Surrealist Question Game.

Straight from the surrealist handbook. ;) Tis fun. I've made people play in chat but I thought it should have it's own thread. Especially with such clever cellar people around.

Here is how this works. One person thinks of a question and does not reveal it. Another person chimes in to give any answer they can think of, to an unknowable question (no one word answers or something lame). The answer should actually be a whole sentence. The questioner then reveals the question!

Since it's my game and I am so amused by it, I'll start. :D

I have a question! Will someone please give me an answer?!:D

lumberjim 01-03-2009 07:54 PM

ok...well, first you take a leek.....

The question: What is the meaning of life?
:)

LOL!

lumberjim 01-03-2009 08:07 PM

ok...i have one

Cicero 01-03-2009 08:11 PM

Answer: Because no one can find it outside of Ut's secret drawer! But many are still searching, and it ends only in ruin.

lumberjim 01-03-2009 08:24 PM

the question:

why is the cellar so special?

Cicero 01-03-2009 08:28 PM

Omg was that really the question?!?

lumberjim 01-03-2009 08:43 PM

maybe,,,is this a trick?

Cicero 01-03-2009 08:46 PM

lol.. No but I think the question fits the answer perfectly! lol! Nice work jim!

Sundae 01-04-2009 04:54 AM

I have a question!

limey 01-04-2009 07:26 AM

The inside is lined with blue shot silk. The outside used to be made exclusively of crocodile skin, but nowadays a good synthetic alternative is acceptable. It measures just about two feet tall and six inches round.

Sundae 01-04-2009 08:27 AM

Damnit.
My question was - will things go as well as I hope in 2009?

limey 01-04-2009 11:02 AM

And you're not happy with the answer :eyebrow: ?
Fortune telling is down the hall (Monster's speciality I believe!).

Sundae 01-04-2009 11:04 AM

True, true.
I can probably twist it though ;)

Cicero 01-04-2009 09:16 PM

I have a question!!

TheMercenary 01-04-2009 09:36 PM

Colonel Mustard, in the kitchen, with a wrench.

TheMercenary 01-04-2009 09:37 PM

the key is to mix the flour and baking powder and baking soda, and salt in one bowl.....and then do the sugar/brownsugar/ butter vanilla in a differnet bowl.....and mix BY HAND....no mixers....it's not the same thing! mix the two bowls slowly......and then.. after the chocolate chips go in,
only one tray at a time in the oven!

let them chill on the tray for a minute before you pull them off and set them to cool.....

Answer:

Because 7-8-9.

Cicero 01-05-2009 02:46 PM

The question was: What is in lj's drawer that he doesn't want anyone to know about, including jinx?

lumberjim 01-05-2009 06:00 PM

what's with all the drawer references in this thread?

are yours riding up?

monster 01-05-2009 06:45 PM

I have a question

lumberjim 01-05-2009 06:50 PM

because they are incompetent, just like everyone else?

monster 01-05-2009 07:52 PM

hmm. you must be telepathic -that answered what i was really thinking, but the question was how am i going to persuade the superintendant and her pet bitch to let us have an extra half hour of pool time which we are willing to pay double for and they are denying because they can

Cicero 01-05-2009 08:12 PM

lol!

monster 01-05-2009 11:16 PM

oh, here's the answer, for those who care..... :D

Dear Miss Plumper,

Thank you for your consideration of our request to extend our approved pool usage time by half an hour until 8:30. You said to check back and we realize you probably didn’t anticipate it being this soon, but we would like to explain to all of the people on your cc list as well as yourself why the extra half hour is so important and suggest some alternative ways both of our needs can be satisfied with minimal disruption to either of our programs.

Attached is a schematic of how we use 2.5 hours pool time. Each group contains 16 swimmers, and almost all classes are full, so we anticipate that approximately 100 swimmers will be in the pool during the course of the evening. If we try to squeeze this into two hours, either our advanced swimmers are going to be unable to get the yardage they need to maintain basic fitness levels, or we are going to have to try and get all 100 swimmers in the pool at the same time. Clearly this is undesirable -although we have sufficient lifeguards on deck, they cannot provide good coaching in those conditions.

We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization providing swimming instruction from babies to adults, for swimmers from Ypsilanti, Willow Run, Milan, Belleville, Saline and Ann Arbor, at minimal cost and with financial aid for those families who need it, and have been serving the community this way since 1960. All of our directors (including madame president and myself) are unpaid volunteers. It says on Dr. Thingummy’s Biography page that she “will charge all staff students, parents, citizens and constituents to do more than they need to, before they're asked to; not because they have to; but because they want to.” We believe this to be exactly what we are doing and that’s why I am sat at my computer at 11;45pm after a long first day back at school, composing this letter. And why Madame President–after two full nursing shifts- is still awake to read it.

We urge you to reconsider allowing us pool usage until 8:30 each night. We are happy to pay for the usage and would like to note that this was the time we swam until in Fall 08, and we made a point to try to leave the pool deck and locker rooms cleaner and tidier than when we arrived, and would do so again, so no additional work should be created for the custodial staff.

If you still cannot approve 8:30pm, could we compromise at 8:15pm? 15 minutes is significantly easier to work into our schedule than 30.

Another alternative is if we could hire a nearby room for 30 or even 15 minutes prior to our pool time where our more advanced swimmers could do their warm-up and dryland training, so they could “hit the pool swimming” at 6pm.

Please let us know as soon as possible if any of these suggestions are viable.

We also ask you to bear in mind that –whilst we understand that there were “unexpected, unavoidable delays” which led to you only communicating the 8pm policy to us today, we did make the request for rental until 8:30pm before Thanksgiving and were given no reason to believe it would be a problem, especially as these hours are the same as we used in Fall08. Had we known of the policy, we would most certainly have scheduled in accordance. But we didn’t, and your email of this afternoon suggested there was room for flexibility/further consideration, so here is our case.

Respectfully yours

Dr. Monster,
Treasurer and Scheduler
the Awesome Swim Club

monster 01-05-2009 11:18 PM

OK, I have another question. it has nothing to do with swimming. probably.

DanaC 01-06-2009 02:26 AM

Because they can.

monster 01-06-2009 08:09 AM

I forgot it. :o

...but I'm sure you're right.

Cicero 01-06-2009 01:08 PM

I have a question!

monster 01-06-2009 06:07 PM

because if they didn't their butts would make them topple over.

Cicero 01-06-2009 07:02 PM
