OK, I never need to try that again!

Has anyone else tried those little bottled energy drinks?
I use them sometimes to wake up when at work. Usually the 6-hour ones. Well, today, just for the heck of it, I drank 2 of them, one right after the other. Right now, my whole body feels like it's overheating and my arms itch.
On the other hand, I am REALLY awake now!

Do they use caffeine as the major stimulant? I'm a caffeine addict, and pretty much drink it from morning until bedtime. I've never tried those energy drinks but I fear they would have me bouncing off the walls.

It sounds like you are sensitive to niacin (B3). Energy drinks are usually loaded with B vitamins.

Sheldonrs 04-02-2009 09:41 AM

Right now I feel sensitive to a slight breeze blowing in Argentina.

Hahahahah!

Never knew you were into watersports LJ. lol!!!

That's the niacin alright. Either that or the meth... hard to tell sometimes.

There is no meth to my madness! :p

i used to drink RockStar diet energy drinks......always made my wee glow

Shawnee123 04-02-2009 11:30 AM

I used to drink FolkSinger energy drinks. Man, they made me mellow and sleepy.

Yznhymr 04-02-2009 01:33 PM

I used to drink Pimp Juice until I found myself voting for Obama, then I knew I had a serious problem. Of course, that's Step #1..

Queen of the Ryche 04-02-2009 01:48 PM

I used to drink Whore Juice, but then I would just lay on my back with my legs in the air....or was that Octomom Juice?

Trilby 04-02-2009 01:52 PM

I did one of those five ounce energy things.....never again, baby. the BAD kind of shakes.

Beestie 04-02-2009 02:09 PM

Spike. Fear it.

I drink a lot of Red Bull so I was quite surprised when I drank a can of Spike and felt like I had a swarm of hornets in my head. Gotta watch those energy drinks - some are pretty lethal.

The best thing I have found for an energy lift is Nano Coffee. No peak and crash - just a steady, medium-term, medium-intensity lift.

BrianR 04-04-2009 11:56 PM

I once took a five-hour energy shot plus a can of Monster...my wife said I was talking like an auctioneer and I remember my head buzzing and rapid eye movements. Time seemed to slow down a little bit.

I only did that because I had a hot load and it needed to be delivered yesterday (literally). I was getting sleepy and the soonest my student could take over was five more hours. That cocktail worked to keep me awake and alert all right but I don't do that anymore, I just get more sleep!

sugarpop 04-05-2009 08:40 AM

hmmm. I have tried red bull. I can drink more than one with no bad effects. Never tried any of the other ones. If I drink more than one cup of coffee I get shaky and nauseous. I don't drink sodas either.

Trilby 04-05-2009 02:28 PM

I'm never going to eat Skyline chili and then a chocolate easter egg. a chocolate butter-pecan easter egg.

oooooo, tummy....hurts....

Sundae 04-05-2009 02:47 PM

I am ultra caffeine-sensitive (I have pretty much none at all now).
But you guys have me all tempted to go and get a really strong one tomorrow and see what happens... Then again, I've never really enjoyed the scratchy, shaky high I got from coffee, so perhaps best not.

I am never again going to assume that English sun in April isn't too hot for me to sit out in.
An hour. ONE hour folks!
I'm not burned exactly, but I am warm and pink. Matching my... hair.
You'd think I'd have learned after 37 years...

I've had that feeling in my groin, too. Didn't realize that energy drinks would help that.

What an oddly apropos bit of information... sure enough, google says that taking B vitamins will make your pee bright yellow, because you're just peeing the unused amount right back out again. Minifob is on a regimen of a relatively high amount of B-vitamins--and his pee is still clear as always. Looks like he really does need them.

sugarpop 04-06-2009 09:20 AM

vitamins will make your pee bright yellow as well.
