But as of today, I am a great uncle! My nephew and his wife had their baby boy this morning. 2 months premature due to some complications but so far things look good. 5Lbs, 1oz 18 inches long.
His name is Thomas. :-)

monster 07-07-2009 10:33 AM

congratulations to all concerned :D

Shawnee123 07-07-2009 10:43 AM

Awww, congrats Uncle Shel! :)

TheMercenary 07-07-2009 10:54 AM

I see they have him on CPAP. Looks nice and pink. :D

Yup. His lungs are a little under dev. but he's breathing on his own.

Clodfobble 07-07-2009 01:55 PM

I'm sure he can expect his great-uncle to spoil him rotten. ;)

Shawnee123 07-07-2009 02:11 PM

As it should be! :)

Isn't it enough that I'll be teaching him about hair and make-up, how to mix an apple-tini and which bars have the cutest guys?

Trilby 07-07-2009 02:53 PM

congrats, Sheldon! Enjoy the little bugggar!

dar512 07-07-2009 02:56 PM

I know I'm fighting a losing battle, but I think you should be called a grand-uncle. It makes no sense to me that your sibling is grandmother or grandfather but you are a great-uncle.

DanaC 07-07-2009 11:57 PM

Huge congrats Sheldon:)

xoxoxoBruce 07-08-2009 12:12 AM

See the baby Thomas,
he weighs 5 pounds 1 ounces,
he is so cute and pink,
I wonder if he bounces? :haha:

Does this mean you have to go to shudder NJ to see him?

Aliantha 07-08-2009 12:19 AM

Good stuff Sheldon. :) How long till you put your hand up for babysitting duties?

Sun_Sparkz 07-08-2009 07:28 AM

For a 2month premmie baby he looks so good! no weird wrinkly pink bits and lots of weight on.

My own belly full of arms and legs is 33weeks old now (which is also possibly going to be a Thomas!) so I guess it would look very similar to this baby... interesting. thanks for the pic sheldon.

Sheldonrs 07-08-2009 09:03 AM

Thanks all! And yes, I will be flying back to NJ in August to mee the new Siegel. :-)

And babysitting is not in my job description. :-) I had to babysit his daddy and now it's HIS turn to change the diapers! Muahahahaha!!!

Wait, what? Did I miss this earlier, or did you keep yourself all lurker-quiet about it? Congratulations, Sparkz!

gonna be anywhere near Cherry Hill?

Sundae 07-08-2009 10:52 AM

5lbs is a very decent size for a preemie!
Love to all involved and congrats to you.

Re Great or Grand - stick with Great.
I was fonder of my Great Aunt Alice (now deceased, the only one of the five - how bad is my luck!) than I ever was of my Nan. See, we got around the Great bit there :)

This is what comes of having older sisters you see.
My niece might do it to my bro yet...

You are welcome and Congrats to you too! We could have Tom Toms soon. hahaha

DanaC 07-08-2009 11:10 AM

I love the idea of being a Great Aunt. I'd love that. I know I would. I'd have to grow my heair and learn to put it in a tight bun...and get me some pinch nez glasses...and be completely scatter brained. Actually, I think I have the last bit covered...

I walked into that. No grim innuendo intended.

LOL, lurker hush is my specialty ;) thanks for the congrats tho - doesn't feel like I have done much yet though..

Re: the "Great" debate - i like the great title. but for grandparents i like grandad, pop and nanna. I guess it makes a lot of difference what you grew up with and the fondness you have developed through your own experience of titles.

I've always loved the title "nonna" for a nan. i think this is an italian term, and i'm not italian so we probably wont be using it but i do think its very "warm and cosy".

Perhaps we need to come up with some new grandparents titles. Traditions have to start somewhere right?

You'll have to be more specific. You've just described 90% of Clifton...male and female.

xoxoxoBruce 07-15-2009 01:36 AM

The one that's missing from there... she made him move to Florida, which killed him, but not before she set herself up with his money.
