Alright Already!

I am going to stop procrastinating and spend the next 45 minutes getting my scrip records up to date. See You Later. Don't distract me.

Cloud 04-15-2010 11:09 AM

.......

limey 04-15-2010 11:13 AM

It's so much easier just to do the thing. Procrastination is so difficult, I don't know why we do it!

lumberjim 04-15-2010 11:13 AM

hey, hang on a sec...

jinx 04-15-2010 11:15 AM

Spike's nuts are off. I'm gonna bathe, grocery shop, hit the gym, and pick his sore little ass up. Outa my way...

Shawnee123 04-15-2010 11:42 AM

Hurry up! I don't have all minute, you know.

monster 04-15-2010 01:36 PM

Bah. I did work the 45 minutes. Made a slight dent in it. Still at least it's started...back to the grindstone....

Sundae 04-15-2010 01:53 PM

Alright already, so call a policeman
Alright already it's true
So new

So sue me, sue me
Shoot bullets through me

I
Love
You

Yes I was in Guys and Dolls.

limey 04-15-2010 01:55 PM

The local Music & Drama are doing that this year. I think it's a great show! Did you have a solo part or were you a Hotbox girl?

Sundae 04-15-2010 02:03 PM

I was 17. I was part of the Mission Band. I looked like butter wouldn't melt in my knickers. Hard to believe now I know.

But we were a small company, and all of us sang in the big numbers. I adored Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat. I loved all the company songs, because when you have male and female singers I could switch harmonies when the women went too high (see karaoke thread!)

My other favourite was My Time of Day. Missing from the film, but I got a physical reaction every time Andy (our Sky) sang it. I watched and watched and watched in rehearsal. It's not an easy song to sing. He said he missed me on performance nights - he missed seeing my big eyes and smile when he sang it. And no, that wasn't a line.

ETA - here is is. Audio only.

limey 04-15-2010 02:43 PM

It's a tricky little number, that ... [/thread drift]
Well, there we are, I've procrastinated and snickerdoodled the day away today, tut tut. Hope Monster's done better than me!

monster 04-15-2010 03:25 PM

not a whole shitload, but the night is yet young (and beer is clling already....) ...gotta get the kids fed and the boy to hockey now, though

TheMercenary 04-15-2010 05:14 PM

Wait, I have to tell you something... just a minute.

monster 04-15-2010 05:18 PM

OK here I am at the hockey, all set up to work (my poor boy, he's the littlest slowest skater but he's giving it his all. The coaches keep yelling at him, I only hope it's encouragement, can't hear from here.) OK, getting back down to it.....

TheMercenary 04-15-2010 05:24 PM

But what about the children!!!!!

lol - Its hockey - encouragement is when your teammates beat you up.

monster 04-15-2010 07:54 PM

They sure did beat him up. The other parents were more worried about him that me. he did great though, is still smiling, both eyes can still focus, and one of his coaches came over and said he's doing great. When i told him he's never played a game and only started learning at Christmas, he said then he's doing REALLY great. he has a long way to go, but at that rate he'll get there fast. /proudmommoment

Damnit I've wasted the day again. And now it's almost 2am and I'm here ....and have just opened Twitter account.

Tomorrow I am taking the patented Monster's Alright Already approach!

classicman 04-15-2010 09:25 PM

Awesome Monnie. Thats the attitude he needs.

monster 04-16-2010 07:12 AM

Still didn't finish the goddamn job, though. Spent the evening fixing hockey shirts and drinking beer. must get back to it, but... it's Friday... please can I have a day off -this has been the week from Crazy!

Shawnee123 04-16-2010 07:14 AM

Take the day off. Put your feet up, eat some bon bons, watch the "stories."

Yeah, I know, that will never happen. I get tired just reading about how busy you are.

Shawnee123 04-16-2010 08:46 AM

Here's what I think, but I need some clever people to help me put it together: mon needs her own infomercial called ALRIGHT ALREADY!

She'll send callers an ALRIGHT ALREADY Kit (this is where you all come in...can't think of what needs to be in the kit, other than a Bud Select as reward for later) and the audience will, on cue, occasionally yell back "ALRIGHT ALREADY!"

The opening scene will be some exasperated people who don't have time to get things done, some sad and bored-looking people looking at piles of something that needs organized, etc...then right before monster bounds onto the stage, cut to clip of all those people with their hands up and yelling at the sky "ALRIGHT ALREADY!"

DanaC 04-16-2010 09:34 AM

Genius. Pure genius. I'd buy.

Shawnee123 04-16-2010 09:52 AM

:)

I could see her doing it, too!

And she *must* bound onto stage.

She has the accent that makes all Americans want to spend spend spend. You've seen the 'mercials. It could work.

All it takes is one "good" idea.

... purple hair and a British accent.

monster 04-16-2010 10:00 PM

oh gawd.

Well I got pretty much fuck all done today. On that task, anyway... I certainly didn't complete my task, but i did sell $1000+ scrip at my weekly store. And did a load of laundry, taught kids semaphonre and displacement code, sorted out donations for a thrift store donation drive fundraiser I'm running, went to the dentist, ran the scrip store, coaches the science olympians, got one kid to swimming, shopped (2 stores) and a few other paperworky things (filed a tax return, cut a check, updated a roster...).

But that damn shadow of a task still lurks like the elephant in the room

monster 04-16-2010 10:01 PM

....and befor i go to bed I need to find Hebe's cleats and Hebe and Thor's new soccer shirts that they have mislaid already

xoxoxoBruce 04-16-2010 11:08 PM

You lost Hebe!

monster 04-17-2010 12:24 AM

yup. was trying to lose Thor at the time, but she interfered as usual....
