Baby Dove Update On The Last Update
 

The picture tells the story...:sniff:

They've left the nest. They've flown the coop. They're in the wind. They're on the wing. They. Are. Outtahere. Momdigr watched as the first of the two took off. She said it flew across the neighborhood and out of sight. Apparently, they hatch knowing how to fly. She said there were no false starts. Stretched his wings, hopped up on the edge of the planter, looked around, and was gone. The sibling was gone within an hour, leaving no witnesses to its departure.

I guess, in retrospect, that a hanging plant container 4 feet off the ground was a pretty good place to raise a family after all.:)

Wow that was quick! They even cleaned up :) Not even a feather to remember them by. :)

I promise, there was no squab served at Chez Gravdigr.;)

Well, I enjoyed seeing them from their beginnings.

Aww, it's sad they moved on.

Her chicks grew pretty fast, maybe they're mutants and those are her grandeggs. :eek:

ETA: Yes, it's alive. Hatched this morning, spotted by Momdigr. Maybe eight hours old in this pic.

I, for one, welcome our new devil-dove overlord.

I wonder if Mama Dove has killed the greenery in the center, or it didn't want to grow there?

Maybe it's hard to grow and flourish with a big, fat, pregnated dove sitting on you all the time?:D

I personally think that both are perfectly acceptable. Awwwwwwwwwwww3 from me and I too want to know what happened in between.

Well, let's see now...The eight-hour-old, infant, Devil Dove grew up and flew away over a year ago, and I haven't gotten so much as a post card from the ungrateful little bastard.

I spied Slick (my kitteh) stalking across the backyard at something, and found this little fella (most recent pic) sitting on the little fence/border around momdigr's flower garden.

Brought Slick inside (he did not want), and, went back a couple of hours later and the dovelet was gone.


As for what happened in between?

I got laid.
I smoked some dope.
I went real goddamned fast in a Buick LeSabre.
And I got a real goddamned big speeding ticket.

Well, those are the high points anyway.

Oh, and, alcohol.
