resizing photos
What software do you use to resize photos?
|
microsoft office pic manager
compress for web pages At least it serves the purpose of posting a viewable pic here in the Cellar. |
photoshop
|
irfanview.
are you interested in resizing one at a time or batch processing? |

I like irfanview, because I'm used to it and can do it in a couple seconds with keystroke shortcuts. But it's a pretty basic task and many programs can do it well.
|
Free IrfanView 4.25 download from CNet: http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3...html?tag=mncol
I recently started using the pixelate effect to de-identify HIPAA PHI in presentations. |
If you save a pic to your desktop, then right click and "open with ms pic manager" then "edit pictures" on top then "compress pictures" on right side then compress for "web pages" it's so easy you can't even stand it.
Why would you need a whole new program, just to resize for here? |
Because shut up.
|
There was this one guy once who was making fun of everyone hopping on the Other Browser bandwagon. He said the commonly used browser was just fine.
Ha! |
No.
|
MS Paint.
Image --> Stretch/Skew --> Whatever horizontal/vertical percentage is appropriate. |
The Cellar limit is 122+ k. It would be nice to choose a photo, and tell the software that I want it to be x dimensions, and y file size, and POOF, it would happen. In a free application.
|
You can do that with ms pic manager too, using resize instead of compress.

you're joking right?
could you raise your right hand when you're joking? |
You have to have MS Office for that.

right click any pic file > open with > microsoft picture manager>
http://www.veryicon.com/icon/png/App...%20Manager.png or...in the start menu, office, office tools |
PS Elements is the easiest for me; alternatively, with iPhone pics, I upload them to photobucket, and resize from there
|
|
Irfanview for me.
|
photostudio 5.5, apparently.
who knew. an aoutomatic resizer would be nice... ;) |
irfanview
I click on resize and then choose the 800x600 pixels option and that seems to work for here. On landscape anyway. |
Photoshop, and I use this other program which I don't know the name to and I can't look it up because it's in my desktop, which is not on, so I can't tell you. :D  Rambling on bunch of useless information, yes, I know. I find that funny...hehhehe. The other program, right-click, resize, choose either small, medium, large. Simple, to the point, and serves its specific purpose. I will get the info for Spexxvet tomorrow because I think he'll like it.

there's two types of people in this world, resize queens and liars.

Oh, I didn't think he was directing it specifically at me. I'm just confused at what he's trying to say. :p:
|
You're confused? He's confused.
|
Ahhh...okay. :p:

This thread is like the Billy from Family Circus...going wayyyy out of his way (getting new software) to do something as simple as going home (resizing pics for posting in the Cellar.)

Be gentle.
|
I posted a photo in Post your pet. It's lame.

Awwww, no, that's a perfectly wonderful picture. How cute is Darla? She should meet Pilau, they'd make a cute couple. :)

Hooray, a winner. He or she?

She. Darla. Wheaten Terrier.
|
She's gorgeous. :yesnod:

She's a good lookin' dog. But the way she's wearing the handkerchief means she's lesbian, dominant, looking for a bull terrier.
Also, I can't stop thinking Wil Wheaton Terrier. |
Ha. Wil Wheaton has been doing some appearances (as Wil Wheaton) on The Big Bang Theory. He and Sheldon have a huge rivalry.
|
I used to follow Wil Wheaton, back in my Fark days. I got a kick out of seeing him on Big Bang.

Recursive Wil Wheaton is Recursive.

See, this is what I'm talking about...To hell with 'resizing' a pic. My cat does that regularly. What I need is to reduce the size of the FILE. If I take a picture of, or with, grass, or anything green, or with bajillions of edges, getting the pic file under 175kb for the Cellar, and still have it big enough to look at, is damn near impossible. I use PhotoStudio 5.0, for compression I'm trying Web Resizer, not thrilled with it, but still learning the program. Any compressor suggestions?
|
But but but...that's what I've been trying to tell you. Well, not YOU you, but all y'all. When I use MS Office Pic Manager, sometimes I don't see any changes dimensionally, but it takes it down to the right amount of KBs for posting here.
Again...right click, open with MS Office Pic Mngr, choose edit pics, choose compress, choose for web pages. Voila. A postable pic. Sigh... There's gotta be a story somewhere, maybe a proverb or one of Asshop's Fables, where some insect tries to tell all the other insects they're working harder, not smarter, and they ignore him and keep trying to do something that's really easy like stack blades of grass but they didn't like using just ANY tool for the job it had to be a cool tool, but they couldn't get the cool tool to work quite the way their good old-fashioned mouthy teethy tool worked but they still wanted a cool tool, until they all die of some strange disease because they just wouldn't listen to the lowly lay insect who they thought didn't know nuttin'. The End |
