I missed the last two. 87%

Sweet! Pointless but sweet. I got 100% on my medication administration test today as well... prolly more important.

footfootfoot 10-11-2010 08:25 PM

14/15 I second guessed Jonathan Edwards. And sweet and pointless as Griff pointed out.

classicman 10-11-2010 08:31 PM

Missed 2 as well. Could have easily been 4...

glatt 10-11-2010 08:31 PM

100%

Weird coincidence, about 30 seconds after answering the question about Job, Two and a Half Men, on in the background, had a few lines about Job in context.

monster 10-11-2010 09:37 PM

Jews and atheists/agnostic know their religion best. This gels with my experience. They're the ones who have to fight hardest to defend their beliefs. But why are there no stats for hindus, muslims and buddhists?

I'm thinking I'd like to introduce a religion licence. Believe whatever you want, but if you want to express your views in public, you must pass a test like this.

These were some of 32 questions in the Pew Forum’s recent U.S. Religious Knowledge Survey that covered core teachings, history and leading figures of major world religions. The results ranged from expected to surprising. The research was conducted by the Washington-based nonpartisan Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life.
So the linked quiz (15 questions) is at best an abridged version of the poll that Pew conducted. FWIW.

Juniper 10-11-2010 10:29 PM

93% - I missed the question about the Jewish sabbath. D'oh!

spudcon 10-11-2010 11:02 PM

93% I thought it was illegal to even acknowledge the Bible existed in public schools.

Not to be a smart ass but that really is a common misconception on the right. Student led prayer is also ok and pretty common on sports teams. It is only when authority figures do it that it becomes an issue. Of course, it is still commonly done, but wouldn't stand up in court if someone pursued it.

DanaC 10-12-2010 07:08 AM

14/15. *smiles* Though I guessed on two of them (Not being able to lead prayers in school, and the Johnathon Edwards guy, who I'd never heard of :P)

The one I got wrong, was the Jewish sabbath.

Spexxvet 10-12-2010 07:37 AM

I got the last one wrong, too. It was really obscure.

Not so obscure. We read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" in public school literature class. Must have been senior year of high school. Jonathan Edwards was a hoot.

Quote:

The God that holds you over the pit of hell, much as one holds a spider, or some loathsome insect, over the fire, abhors you, and is dreadfully provoked; his wrath towards you burns like fire; he looks upon you as worthy of nothing else, but to be cast into the fire; he is of purer eyes than to bear to have you in his sight; you are ten thousand times so abominable in his eyes as the most hateful venomous serpent is in ours.
Of course, he was a colonial American, so Dana would have no reason to know of him.

Gravdigr 10-12-2010 03:58 PM

14 out of 15.

Sundae 10-12-2010 04:22 PM

14 out of 15 - screwed up on the "Bible as Literature" question.
I absolve myself, as it is effectively a question on American education rather than World Religion.

Like Dana, I'm pretty well up on individual faiths. Useful for a traveller/ literary student.

Nice quiz though, thanks!
(Sez she who did well)

fargon 10-12-2010 05:53 PM

We got them all right.

Clodfobble 10-12-2010 06:16 PM

It says only 11% of people got the last question right, which is far below a 30% guessing rate. I wonder if they're all choosing Billy Graham, or Finney...

jimhelm 10-12-2010 07:21 PM

i got the one about the wine and bread wrong ... and job suffering (which... when i say it like that is really obvious.... job=suffering). I thought abraham killed his own kid or something.... or was that someone else?

Cloud 10-12-2010 07:56 PM

87% yeah, I missed the last one and the one about Abraham and Job, too, 'cause I was focused on the obediance part.

toranokaze 10-12-2010 09:56 PM

monster 10-12-2010 11:31 PM

so yay! we're all smart on this quiz. Of course, We're dwellars. We rock. But what do we all think about all the non-dwellars who are not so smart?

jimhelm 10-13-2010 01:03 AM

i say we buttfuck them in the mouth.

no. wait...let's be nice to them.

GunMaster357 10-13-2010 04:41 AM

80% only...

My problems were not about religious questions as such but the ruling of the US Supreme court..

Well, I'm French not American ;)

IIRC, god told Abraham to kill his son, Abraham agreed, then, just before Abraham killed him, god told him he got punked.

xoxoxoBruce 10-13-2010 08:55 AM

Yeah, God whipped out a goat at the last minute.

footfootfoot 10-13-2010 09:32 PM

Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

Trilby 10-14-2010 04:23 PM

missed one - the one about the New Awakening.

I'm going with that too as my reason for my score.
