I'm wondering what will happen to the miner who's wife, and mistress, both showed up, when the accident happened. :cool:

It will be all soap operas for awhile. Interviews, articles, the dirt on who was cool vs who was a dick, underground, the Weekly World News reporting Bat Boy saved them from certain death, and a couple of ghost written books. Wonder which ones will be on Oprah? :haha:

I just timed the last rescue #12. Time to top from bottom is 15 min. Not bad. Sounds like they are moving a little faster than before.

It's heartwarming, especially the happiness on the faces of the families. Chalk one up for human resiliency.

Tensions are rising above ground as wives and mistresses of the 33 miners trapped deep within the San Jose mine make rival claims for compensation.

I have to say . . . I'd hate to be the last one down there

Now they just have to get the rescue workers back up....

I am still not sure *why* it took that long to get to them... but I am very glad to see all of them got out alive. The weeks/months ahead will tell if they got out ok :(
Either way, at least they are on the surface, and thats pretty damn cool!

I think if a miner has enough $ to have a wife and 4 mistresses, then they are getting paid too much $.

Are they sponsored by the state? Do their online forums devolve into "I don't want my tax dollars paying for some miner's mistress's groceries."

The rational part of my brain tells me it has to be genuine, but on an intuition leve, I find it hard to be convinced of the emotion behind Sebastian Pinera's (the President) hugs. He seems so plasticky.

Honestly, when you first heard of a mine collapse in Chile, did you think there was a chance in hell they'd all come out alive... or any come out alive? Incredible luck. Incredible effort.

No chance at all. It's amazing and the fact that they're way ahead of their original timeline is incredible. In spite of my cynicism about Sebastian Pinera, I am very, very glad that all of the miners got out alive.

I heard they made a legal & binding pact when they were still underground, that all revenue from this incident will be shared equally.

Not a chance. Great effort.

Rob, the guy who runs that site, made a scale graphic to show just how long the shaft that these miners had to travel through is. It's pretty impressive.
