Need some help - figuring money out.
 

I need some help. I am starting a new job on Monday (YAY), but I am trying to figure out the bills right now that all end up due at the end of the month. The problem is that now I get paid on Tues. And at the new job, I will get paid on the 15th and the end of the month.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what my first paycheck from them will be on Nov 30th. I have looked but all I can find are calculators that input your yearly salary and tell you what you get each pay period. Since this won't be a full pay period, they aren't helping.

I need to figure out what the final amount I will be getting for 56 hours (this includes the 2 paid holidays). Can anyone help me??

Are you getting paid hourly or a set salary per year? e.g. $15/hr or 45K per year?

I am getting a set salary.

Divide the yearly salary by 2000, that should give you the approximate hourly rate, before taxes and shit.

can you ask your payroll person for an estimate? Just say you are trying to figure out your budget

Bruce - I already got that, but I was looking for after taxes. I am really cutting it close this month and need it to be closer to what I actually clear. Wait - why 2000?

52 weeks x 40 hrs a week = 2080 hrs a year.

Annual salary divided by 2700. That provides a ballpark number of dollars per hour. Multiply that (two digit) dollar number by hours (56) to estimate a paycheck.

Tried that and it wasn't even close to correct.

You work exactly 56 hours a week? Is that 8 hours a day 7 days a week, or 11.2 hours a day Monday through Friday?

No one here will be able to tell you what it will be after taxes, because that will depend entirely on what you put on your W-9 form, number of dependents and all that, plus what your employer may or may not charge for their health insurance plan, etc. If you need that level of precision, just call the HR department of the new employer.

Whatever it comes to, it won't be enough.

It was bbro's number, over the course of a partial two weeks.

1. find out who the payroll person is
2. ask them.

3. prepare a back-up plan in case there's a hitch with the new payroll

The 56 hours are for next Monday through the end of the month. So 7 8 hour days (although I will probably be working longer hours than that).

Can you squeeze your budget for half your gross this time, until you can know for sure? That should give you some cushion.

Half a gross is 72 and she's only got 56, though...

Mon - yes, that was far from sober :D It was my birthday picture. The name stems from first initial last name. It was also the nickname an old coworker called me because that was all he had to type in before my name came up for email.

Sorry I have been MIA - I started the new job and am cutting down on my surfing. Mainly because I have a lot of stuff to do, but also because I LOVE this place and don't want to mess it up.

I found the appropriate person and figured it all out. I should be just fine.
