vanilla bean

What color is vanilla bean? Thinking of buying this pair of pants online and the color says vanilla bean. Clicking over the name of the color, I see light pink on the screen. But I've been mistaken before (remember dove?) so I was wondering if anyone would know what color is vanilla bean.

Thank you very mucho. :D

Cloud 02-19-2011 10:10 PM

green if fresh and brown if dried. sure as hell isn't pink

zippyt 02-19-2011 10:12 PM

Ya know those Black specs in Good Vanilla ice cream ??

Thats Vanilla Bean

Tulip 02-19-2011 10:38 PM

vanilla bean color for clothes.....what color would that be? if it's brown, why not show brown? anyways, other than dark brown, anyone else has other insights?

wolf 02-19-2011 11:06 PM

That is a dumb color name. Could be they mean kind of off-white? or more of a French Vanilla, maybe? But certainly not pink.

Might be worth a call to customer service.

edit: by Googling I found a paint color called vanilla bean that also looked a bit pinkish, but I suspect that it's really more taupe-y.

Googling for "Vanilla Bean Pants" found me this really yummy looking recipe ...

Tulip 02-19-2011 11:10 PM

haha...you're right. I'm gonna have to call the customer service. Btw, I agree with you, it's a stupid name for a color.

Tulip 02-19-2011 11:40 PM

Just called the customer service and the sales rep told me it's ivory with yellow undertone. Basically, she did a search in the their site with that color and guessed the color for me. :p: Told me about it so I did the same. Some pix I see pinkish, some I see ivory and one I see taupe. I think I just may have to order the pants home to know its exact color.

Btw, that sauce looks absolutely delish!!

GunMaster357 02-20-2011 06:56 AM

It may refer to an HTML color: vanilla bean.

Sundae 02-20-2011 07:05 AM

Don't buy from them Tulip.
It will encourage their silly colour names.
I'm tempted to complain to customer services just on principle.

footfootfoot 02-20-2011 11:17 AM

Better stores will mail you a swatch

But I love Victoria's Secret. :D Hmm...maybe I should call just to complain about their color names.

Shawnee123 02-21-2011 11:15 AM

translation: where are the beans?

monster 02-21-2011 11:18 AM

ur bean silly

Spexxvet 02-21-2011 11:22 AM

Call and tell them that if the pants come in an ivory with yellow undertone color, you'll order a pair.

We should not only protest the strange names for colors, we should NEVER ever order pants from a place that calls them "a pant."

"This lovely tweed pant goes from casual to dressy with just a few additions..."

Pant + pretentious = pantentious!

THIS is a pant:

(and cute)

Sundae 02-21-2011 12:27 PM

And I will refuse to buy from a shop that calls trousers "pants".
No. Pants (in the country) and knickers, briefs, smalls, lingerie.

If I walk out of my house in just my pants you'll know about it.

Shawnee123 02-21-2011 12:30 PM

Trousers always just makes me think of "trouser snake."

What is trousing? What is someone looking for when they trouse?

"Where are you going, honey?"

"Oh, thought I'd do a little shopping, some banking, maybe some trousing."

"Well, you better wear your trousers, just in case."

And, like pant, should it be trouser or trousers?

:p:

Sundae 02-21-2011 12:50 PM

Trousers. Like pants and scissors, they come in pairs.

Shawnee123 02-21-2011 01:37 PM

But what is trouse?

I googled it and got this:

World English Dictionary
trouse (traʊz)

— pl n
( Brit ) close-fitting breeches worn in Ireland

[from Irish and Scot Gaelic triubhas : compare trews ]

Now we're throwing BREECHES into the pile? Oy.

I've heard of them there britches, though.

In the south, they call all pants "Coke."

Sundae 02-21-2011 01:39 PM

Breeches?
We close up those with our English dead.

Not to be confused with dykes, which are satisfied by a finger.

Undertoad 02-21-2011 01:46 PM

My friend's a Web trouser.

He goes on porn sites and pants.

Shawnee123 02-21-2011 01:51 PM

You mean your friend zippy?

Sundae 02-21-2011 01:52 PM

Buttons are better.
I try to rub mine occasionally to remind me.

Yeah, the addition of another pant would give you a pair of pants which, when worn, would constitute being dressed, hence dressy.
half dressed = casual.

I have a friend who works for a big clothing catalog house, he 'splained me.

Shawnee123 02-21-2011 03:48 PM

I guess if you work at IHOP you would only need the pant.

Sundae 02-21-2011 04:01 PM

And at Hooters you'd would only get the pant.

footfootfoot 02-21-2011 05:46 PM

and many panters...

Panting punters?

i could SO get perverted with this. but i digress.

BrianR 02-23-2011 11:40 AM

Back onto topic... I painted my living room vanilla bean and it came out butter yellow. Just so you know. I thought it would be more of a beige or tan.

Careful, it's on a short step from a panting punter to flaps in your lap.

monster 02-26-2011 05:50 PM

What use is knowing what color Vanilla's been, anyhoo? What we care about is what color it is now, surely?

footfootfoot 02-26-2011 09:31 PM

Right. Don't put it in your mouth, who knows where that vanilla's been?
