GunMaster357 02-25-2011 06:53 AM

Depend on what you call swimwear.

If standard swimsuit : no underwear
If diving suit : yes, i wear a swim suit
If alone and under the moon : i swim in the apparel God gave me at birth

glatt 02-25-2011 07:13 AM

Oh! Reminds me, I need a new swimsuit for this summer. You think Target has them in stock yet?

monster 02-25-2011 09:25 AM

So we have 100% no.
Curious, because I am seeing more and more people wearing undies underneath their swimwear. Admitedly, a proportion on this is young lads appearing to wish to extend the fashion for wearing their pants around their knees and their undies on display to their leisure activities, but that doesn't make it not ew. And ladies, there is no avoiding the vpl in a swimsuit, what are you thinking? STOP IT! Stop it right now! I can't imagine that it's even remotely comfortable. Unless you just put them on clean when you put the swimsuit on, it's not overly hygienic either, but then you'd just never swim at all if you ponder too much about that sort of thing. Street clothes should never be in the pool, and if they must be for some religious/health reason, then they need to be freshly laundered as you change to enter the pool. Those are the guidelines from the health depts we deal with. Maybe they need to specify about undies.

Last summer at the folk fest, I noticed a trend where young chicks have no concern at all for showing bra strappage. This is not just having two straps over each shoulder, which is now normal, but actually wearing stuff that was previously incompatible with bra straps. Maybe this is a similar thing? Or just a festy thing.

monster 02-25-2011 09:41 AM

Apparently the layering trend has now spead to bikinis too. They just looked like tropical bag ladies to me, wearing their entire wardrobe to save from carrying it.

Shawnee123 02-25-2011 10:20 AM

I layer. I wear long johns, then a bathing suit, then a parka, then a beach cover-up. It's uncomfortable, but I'm the coolest bitch at the beach.

Flint 02-25-2011 10:40 AM

I wear underwear under my swimsuit.

With every swimsuit I have, the little built-in underwear lining SCRATCHES MY WEINER. I have to wear something underneath to protect myself. If the swimsuits were made with a non-abrasive liner, I would gladly abstain.

Shawnee123 02-25-2011 10:45 AM

You should stop buying Brillo™ Brand Swim Trunks.

Hasn't this trend been around for a while?

Sundae 02-26-2011 06:33 AM

UT doesn't get to the beach much.
Too much sunshine and happiness.

ZenGum 02-26-2011 06:53 AM

Well if we're discussing silly fashions...

Okay, trend this year for young lasses is shorts. Very very short shorts. No complaints there. :D
Quite a few cut the legs off jeans to make the shorts. All well and good. But many use jeans that had deep pockets, which now hang down below the 'hem' lines of the shorts, and don't cut them off or sew them up - and still put things in them. Is it just me or does this look ridiculous?

(Well, ON me it would look worse than ridiculous, I suppose, you know what I mean).

Trilby 02-26-2011 08:02 AM

Zen - I hate that! I'm all for short shorts and cut offs but FFS!~ Couldn't they at least sew those pockets up? It's soooooooo hillbilly!

Aliantha 02-26-2011 05:57 PM

You can actually buy those shorts looking like that. Check any of the 'young girl' cheapo boutiques and you'll see racks of them.

I'm sure this too will pass.

If you're moustachioed in that area, do you wax it?

Urbane Guerrilla 03-03-2011 11:09 AM

Do your ears hang low
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a ribbon, can you tie 'em in a bow?
Can you throw 'em o'er your shoulder
Like a Continental soldier
{US historical ref}
Do you get a funny feeling when your ears hang low?

TheMercenary 03-03-2011 11:16 AM

Go naked when you can.

BrianR 03-12-2011 05:38 PM

define "underwear".

I wear a device meant to control inadvertent swimsuit malfunctions since I dive. This basically consists of a latex-ey strap which holds the junk in the trunk instead of allowing it to flop around. This is NOT comfortable and I wouldn't wear it with normal clothes but swimsuits tend to be tight and a malfunction is, well, embarrassing. I don't have a vee though. It's not that tight!

I do not wear my usual underthings under a swimsuit. That's just odd.

I vote no.

wolf 03-13-2011 12:50 PM

Only when trying a suit on. Otherwise, that's just creepy.
