Very upset about my wardrobe...
Hi. I have another problem, aside from the ones I already have. But this problem is not an emotional issues like all the other ones I have. As you know, I do not have a job. I do have the promise of an interview, but I don't have nice enough clothing to wear. Most of the clothing I have is from thrift stores and sample sales.
Most of my jewerly was bought at street fairs. I have a lot of rings, earings, and neclaces...all in the $10-$15 dollar range. Most of it is silver pewter. So what I am going to wear to the interview?? I have a girlfriend that may lend me some jewerly, and even offered to loan me some clothing, but I am very petite,...so it will not fit. I feel like such a 'rag picker.' And the interview is shortly approaching. Can anyone offer suggestions?? Thank you, Pam. |
We have a thing here in Dayton called Clothes That Work - I'm sure Queens has something similar. It's a clothing place where women can get an entire work-ready/interview-ready wardrobe. It's free.

the webmaster, Mr. Undertoad, verifying where I live. I will try your suggestion. I need a miracle. Isn't Dayton in Ohio?? I've never really traveled much out of the North East, but I think you are there. How have the other posters here treated you?? I woke up this morning and saw what some people were saying about me. I'll admit, it did hurt a bit... Your friend, Pam |
I don't know how it is shopping for women's clothing at thrift stores, but my entire wardrobe of men's professional clothes were purchased at thrift stores. I don't pay retail price for anything. I've been able to gradually build up a very nice set of slacks, button-up shirts, and v-neck sweaters. All name brands and in good condition. I bought a pair of brand-new dress shoes for $12.50.
Maybe we have better thrift stores in Texas? |
what is the job?

Brianna gave me a good suggestion, so I am checking into it. After all, this is NY. Have you ever been here? I have been to TX one time. Everyone is very pleasant and nice. Although I am freightened by people walking around with guns. That is not allowed here. My medication was not balanced last night, so I was very upset, but doing a bit better today. And I appreciate your response. Your friend, Pam. |

I am poor, yet would be selling very nice clothing to rich people. It's a very well known store on 5th Avenue. Aside from clothing, my hair is a mess, and I am not that attractive. The only reason I am getting this interview is because of a friend. I know that is the reason... Sadly, Pam. |
go in with torn stuff and bed head. shabby chic.
|
Quote:
Take care - Pam. |
i didn't call you shabby
i said use your 'weakness' as a strength love and kisses, Jim |
oh... wait... maybe you thought 'chic' was pronounced like 'chick'. its 'sheek'.

to get along here, despite our opinions and circumstances... I do not think Mr. Undertoad would appreciate mean comments such as yours on his website. I think you are a very angry person. |

I am very stressed about my clothing for the interview. I also have a problem with my landlord. He is mean to me, and does not turn on the heat all winter. I pray for spring. I am so cold right now... I am going to have some wine... Pam. |
what kind of wine do you drink?
|
Quote:
When I was in high school, I was promoted to 'Honors English Class,' but then I was promptly removed because I called Ernest Hemmingway a 'Long winded drunk, boring fuck.' I will still live by that comment. I don't like Hemmingway or that other fucker 'Shakespear.' I do not like happy endings. I like Charles Dickens...GREAT EXPECTATIONS. Want to know why??? Because in the end, the boy does NOT get the girl. I like that. People want to see atrocity, not Hollywood endings...because life is not like that. Well, at least for me it is not. I am not sure why I am telling you this...perhaps it is the wine???!!!! Always- Pam. |
how about a pic in the RFN thread

I've never been accepted anywhere, and most websites will not accept me. Perhaps, I have found a home here??? I truly hope I have. Mr. Undertoad was kind enough to accept me to his site, and I am grateful. I have been on other websites before, but have not been accepted...even though I never was mean to anyone... The reason why I live in NY is because NY will take anyone. So I fit in. The sad part of it all, is that nobody wants to get to know anyone. I could be that anonymous give on the J train. The girl who looks at you, and then never looks back again...and then I get off at the next stop. Yet, I will still think of you for the rest of the day... As for the wardrobe, I do thank Brianna for helping me. The problem is almost solved!!! Thank you all, Pam!!!!!!!!!!!! |
This all sounds so very familiar. Not the words mind you...the rest.
|
The Joke is On da Cella... would be my guess.
|
Quote:
And what is 'the rest' that you speak of??? Confused, Pam. |
Yeah. Not the words but the overall shape and rythm. Structurally all too familiar

I am being honest. I am not her; and I do not write poetry. But I do appreaciate the link. The girl seems so lonely. I guess I should check out some of her writing... You are not going to add me as a friend??? It's OK. I am used to it... Always wishing you the best, Pam. |
Oh, please tell us what website? is it planned parenthood?

No idea what you!re talking about. I didn't post link.

I am still new here, and getting used to things. I never know why you don't talk to much, but I guess that is you. I am quiet too... You never answer my questions... Frustrated, Pam |

This is greatly upsetting to me; and again, you do not answer questions, so I will stop asking after this reply... Warmest regards, Pam. |

Ask him if you wish... And I am extremely grateful for him welcoming my membership...as most chat rooms will not have me. He is a Saint and a very good man. I was so out of hope the other day. If it was not for this website, I do not know what I may have done... Thankfully yours, Pam. |

It is great, and somewhat depressing,...or perhaps that is me. Not sure anymore. Having some more wine. Did I tell you that I had to move my bed away from the window because there is gang violence where I live, ... and I feared a bullet coming through the window... Always - Pam. |
The only gangs we have down here are gators and skeeters. And they will carry you off if you don't keep yer winders shut. Yuk yuk yuk.

In psychology, a person who has a martyr complex, sometimes associated with the term victim complex, desires the feeling of being a martyr for his/her own sake, seeking out suffering or persecution because it feeds a psychological need.
In some cases, this results from the belief that the martyr has been singled out for persecution due to exceptional ability or integrity.[1] Theologian Paul Johnson considers such beliefs a topic of concern for the mental health of clergy.[2] Other martyr complexes involve willful suffering in the name of love or duty. This has been observed in women, especially in poor families, as well as in codependent or abusive relationships.[3][4] It has also been described as a facet of Jewish-American folklore.[5] The desire for martyrdom is sometimes considered a form of masochism.[6] Allan Berger, however, described it as one of several patterns of "pain/suffering seeking behavior", including asceticism and penance.[7] |
