P90X

Is it really that good?

The package I see is $140 on Amazon.

Is that what I'd want if I were going to do it?

What sort of equipment is required? Looks like a pull up bar and push up stands at least?

lookout123 05-27-2011 02:02 AM

The program is outstanding. I've done it 2 1/2 times in the last two years. If you do P90X followed by insanity I can flat out guarantee you will drop pounds and have a massively different physique after it is over. It isn't difficult but it is hard. Adapt adapt adapt. If you can't do everything they do on screen adapt it to the amount/time you can do and push through.

I'm pretty sure you can pay considerably less than $140 if you buy it directly from beach body though. Of course, I'd be happy to burn a copy for you and send it to you if you'll commit to making a $50 donation to the tip jar. Honor system, of course.

Tulip 05-27-2011 05:52 AM

My knees couldn't handle Insanity.

lookout123 05-27-2011 11:19 AM

My knees and ankles are so shot from soccer injuries that they always hurt anyway. I have an untreated meniscus tear that actually felt much better after Insanity than before. It really strengthened the surrounding muscles and took some of the strain off that lil bugger.

BigV 05-27-2011 12:46 PM

I've seen the commercials, and fuck.. .that dude is ripped. I think I'd be shredded instead. But I'm willing to give it a shot.

PM.

My liver can barely keep up with garden variety madness. I doubt it could handle insanity.

Really? Hmm....maybe I was just being a big baby. I'll give it a shot again.

It takes hard work and committment, Big V. But you'll be glad if you follow through. Even if you won't be "ripped" like Tony Horton, you'd still be stronger and much toner. :)

Weak... :frog: Hihi...I'm teasing you. ;)

BigV 05-27-2011 05:09 PM

Greetings Lola Bunny, welcome to the cellar. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope you say similarly nice things at my wake.

Lola Bunny 05-27-2011 05:58 PM

Greetings, dwellar of the planet Cellar. :D lol...just feeling silly. If I can handle P90X, so can you! ;) And I'm just the size of your thumb. :p: By the way, I will always have nice things to say about you. :)

piercehawkeye45 05-30-2011 01:21 PM

I have my full support behind P90X. It goes after almost every muscle group in different ways and is easy enough to change according to your own goals. If you want to lose weight and tone, you can do that. If you want to get ripped and gain [some] muscle, you can do that. It is also easy to incorporate some P90X motions into other workouts.

Another thing I like is that it will force you start eating healthier. If you eat fast food before a workout there is a very good chance you won't make it through or you will have to go 50% the entire time.

Lola Bunny 05-30-2011 08:42 PM

Because of Perry and the comments about P90X, I've decided to start the program again. Lord knows I need to lose lots of fat and gain some muscles. Rather than starting a new thread, I'm going to put my progress here. It will make me more accountable and be too embarrassed to quit or skip my exercise. Okay, since I see you guys as family by now, I'm gonna put weight and measurements so everyone can see my progress. :D

WEEK 1 DAY 1 May 30th

weight: 102.4 lbs.
waist: 28 1/2
hip: 33 1/2
thigh: 20 1/2

kerosene 05-30-2011 10:17 PM

Lola's tiny!

My husband and son do P90x. We have one of those push up/pull up bar thingies and some weight bands. I don't do it because I am too much of a wuss, but I do get a laugh out of some of the stuff Tony says. It will definitely kick your ass, at least for a while.

Clodfobble 05-30-2011 10:17 PM

How tall are you?

Lola Bunny 05-30-2011 10:37 PM

I'm 4'9". So with those measurements, I am chunky. :p:

Kero: I have a pull-up bar and some weights. Yeah, Tony Horton is a total dork, and that's why he makes me laugh. :D

monster 05-30-2011 11:30 PM

I am almost two bunnies. I'm two bunnies less half a boy.

Clodfobble 05-30-2011 11:55 PM

So, about 7 feet tall then?

Lola Bunny 05-31-2011 05:44 PM

WEEK 1 DAY 2

Last night I woke up just after 1 1/2 hr of sleep and couldn't fall back to sleep. I wasn't fully awake though. I could feel the numbness of my body, my head was uncomfortable, and these thoughts kept on popping up in my head, making me feel even more uncomfortable. After tossing and turning for a long while, I finally fell back to sleep. When the alarm went off, I pressed snooze. But then, I couldn't fall back to deep sleep because I remembered: WEEK 1 DAY 1. If I don't get up and exercise, it would be really embarrassing. I am so happy I started this so-called journal because it pushed me to get up and get moving. :D Since I exercised later than scheduled, I didn't have time to go for a short jog as I wanted. Okay, shoulder and arm and ab exercise tomorrow! :D

Are you asking me, or monster? I'm about 5'9", myself, but I slump pretty badly because I'm lazy.

I was asking Monster by repeating your question. But I am glad you told me how tall you are. Geez, I'm glad I'm not smart like you. Imagine how much shorter I'd be if I slump too. :p:

TheMercenary 06-01-2011 03:47 PM

I would love to try it. You have to be careful buying it off E-Bay since it seems like in some there were DVD's missing. A number of military buddies have done it and swear by it.

Lola Bunny 06-01-2011 11:32 PM

WEEK 1 DAY 3

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am so glad I've made myself accountable by posting my progress on here. Because that's the only reason why I even made time to practice today. Did shoulder/arm and abs today.

Lola Bunny 06-02-2011 08:07 AM

WEEK 1 DAY 4

Yoga! Only did an hour of the 1 1/2 hour.

TheMercenary 06-02-2011 09:00 PM

I am 5' 3" tall and 290 lbs. I hope I can get something out of it.

footfootfoot 06-02-2011 09:21 PM

You gotta stand up straight and you know you aren't supposed to weigh yourself armed, either.

TheMercenary 06-02-2011 09:53 PM

Ok, well given that I guess I only weigh 130.

Lola Bunny 06-03-2011 02:25 PM

WEEK 1 DAY 5

Did my leg/back and abs exercises today. What I found out the last time I did this program was that it does not work my heart and lungs the way jogging does. I have a friend who had high heart rate also. He walked incline on the treadmill and after a while, his hr went down. I decided I need jogging along side with P90X. Also, I like the feeling of my heart being stressed from jogging and not from mental stress. Since I got up when the alarm went off, and I don't have to worry about getting my nephew ready for school, I went for a 20 mins jog before doing my leg/back exercise. And I am trying to remember to drink more water. :D

BigV 06-03-2011 03:21 PM

very hard to overdo the hydration.

keep drinking!

I'm no expert but, you're doing it wrong! :D

Lola Bunny 06-04-2011 10:00 PM

WEEK 1 DAY 6

Did 20 mins of jogging and Kenpo. I am officially tired. :yeldead: I'm all ready for rest tomorrow. Depending on how I feel tomorrow morning, I may jog or simply just do some yoga to warm up and stretch.

Doing what wrong? Drinking? You're absolutely right! I found an opened wine bottle in the fridge; there was about a glass and half left in it. I decided to finish it off to throw the bottle out. It was not good. Next time, I'd need to finish the bottle off in one sitting so it won't go bad. :D

At this rate of shrinkage, you'll be gone in a few more years. meanwhile you can enjoy looking up women's skirts without getting slapped....

Lola Bunny 06-04-2011 10:46 PM

He might get kicked though.

Lola Bunny 06-05-2011 12:12 PM

WEEK 1 DAY 7

Got lazy and pressed snooze so I woke up a bit later. Initially I didn't care to but decided to go for a jog. After 10 mins, my calves were hurting so I got lazy. I said to myself it's my rest day so I stopped. As soon as I came in to do my P90X stretch, I regretted it. Wish I had worked my heart and body more. Stretching was good though. Anyone who's doing P90X for the first time, I highly recommend doing the P90X stretch rather than just resting on the 7th day of that week.

Lola Bunny 06-06-2011 10:46 AM

WEEK 2 DAY 1

Core synergistics

Weigh in day. I forgot when and how I weighed myself last week. Making a standard today. I will weigh after exercise, naked, and right before jumping into the shower.

weight: 101 lbs.

measurements were too insignificant to mention.

Lola Bunny 06-07-2011 11:24 PM

WEEK 2 DAY 2

Cardio...I did not do. I jogged 20 mins because I remember not doing enough to get a good workout with this. As I was about to start the exercise, my nephew called. Soo.....anyways, to make long story short because I want to get to bed now, I didn't do it. But I did jog so not feeling too guilty. :D

Lola Bunny 06-08-2011 06:06 PM

WEEK 2 DAY 3

Shoulder and arm and ab ripper. I only got halfway through the ab ripper when my nephew kept on calling me so I had to stop.

Lola Bunny 06-09-2011 11:14 PM

WEEK 2 DAY 4

Jogged for 30 mins and did 45 mins of yoga. Almost two weeks and still hasn't lost any fat. I still measure the same. :thepain: Must do something different. Gotta change my diet. :greenface

monster 06-10-2011 07:14 AM

um.... do you actually have any fat to lose? That could be your problem right there....

Lola Bunny 06-10-2011 11:58 AM

Woman, I have so much fat, you wouldn't believe. And no, I won't post a pix of my fat to prove it. :right:

WEEK 2 DAY 5

I had wanted to jog 30 mins to burn some of those calories from the cheesecake I had yesterday. It was Godiva chocolate cheesecake and so worth it! :D I felt so tired this morning that I forgot and stopped at 20 mins. Went in to do Leg and Back exercises and did Ab Ripper. I absent-mindedly did my exercises so I didn't have a very good workout. Just gotta push one more day then I can rest. Been feeling so tired.

monster 06-10-2011 12:40 PM

Then you must have no bones or muscle. :p: Or step on the scales with a fuckload of helium ballons

Lola Bunny 06-10-2011 01:33 PM

Probably had too much poop and gas that exercise helped relieve. Sorry for my crudeness these days...:yelsick:

Pico and ME 06-10-2011 01:37 PM

Seriously Lola, you are only running at about 24% body fat which is only 2% over what is considered good for a female. You want to talk about fat on a small frame? I'm at 29% and can disguise it fairly easily with the right clothes, but forget short shorts or bathing suits.

Btw, I don't know what your diet is like right now, but consider changing it over to 40 percent of the calories as carbohydrates (fruits and veggies), 30 percent of the calories as protein (lean), and 30 percent of the calories as fat (monounsaturated fats - olive oil and almonds). Ive just recently been trying to get back on this diet. It takes some doing.

Lola Bunny 06-11-2011 04:38 PM

WEEK 2 DAY 6

I just wanted to input this real quick in case I don't get a chance to get online again tonight. I jogged 20 mins and did half of the Kenpo exercise because I ran out of time. I also did a 10 min yoga exercise for abs.

Lola Bunny 06-12-2011 08:43 PM

WEEK 2 DAY 7

It's my rest day so I walked some and did some ab exercises.

Lola Bunny 06-13-2011 09:37 PM

WEEK 3 DAY 1

Did core synergistics.

Weigh in:

weight: 100.4 lbs.
waist: 28
hip: 33 1/4
thigh: 20 1/4

classicman 06-13-2011 09:39 PM

You go girl!

I'll be over here sittin on my ass with a beer cheerin you on.

My diet is exactly why I'm not losing that much fat. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it. :D

Hihi....thank you! :p: Cheer loudly to help keep me motivated. Luckily you're not sitting there with a piece of chocolate cake.

classicman 06-14-2011 07:41 AM

Duh, I already ate the cake. . . the WHOLE cake. I'm just washing it down with a beer.

Looks like you are seeing some progress. :)

Yes, but oh so slowly. :thepain: That's why I need to change my diet.

Thought I'd add it here so I won't add another post. Not sure if I could get my exercise in. Didn't get to bed til about 6 in the morning. Didn't get the adrenaline rush like last time so I didn't go out for a jog. I felt more alert after I've brushed my teeth and such, but by then, I was already in pjs and lotion on my face so I didn't feel like changing and go jogging. Took less than a minute for me to fall asleep. Woke up around noon but oh so tired. Hmm....rest of the day is busy, so, umm.......

Pico and ME 06-14-2011 02:33 PM

Slowly but surely wins this race...adapt your diet to something you can maintain from now on.

Lola Bunny 06-15-2011 07:54 AM

WEEK 3 DAY 2

Jogged 20 mins and did Cardio from P90X. While exercising, I heard Tony said, "This is your second workout if you're doing the lean program." Second workout? I'm following the lean program and this is the only one I'm doing. Have to go back to the fitness guide and see what I'm missing. :p:

I may check out what you suggested to see if it's doable for me. Slowly but surely is good; however, I made a bet with my sister that I'll go down to a 26in waist by the July 4th otherwise I'd have to do her laundry. Umm....I gotta get the fat off fast!

Pico and ME 06-15-2011 08:51 AM

Then just do extreme mental stress, coffee and cigarettes for the rest of the month. Its really the only way for that kind of short term loss.
