Hello, new guy here.

I look forward to conversing with you all.

infinite monkey 08-15-2011 07:35 AM

Welcome, John.

Sit back, relax...jim will be along with a quiz in due time.

fargon 08-15-2011 07:37 AM

Chuck Taylors, a veritable icon in the world of shoes. We were too poor to buy the fanciest schmanciest basketball shoes when I played in HS, but I didn't care 'cause I loved my Chucks. :)

monster 08-15-2011 07:55 AM

Does Chuck Norris wear chucks?

I don't get these threads. What is the point of an "introduction thread" if you don't actually introduce yourself? Arse-sellers indeed.

grynch 08-15-2011 08:10 AM

Faulty Towers.. John Cleese wrote the name of a difficult client as

"R.Sole" I was planning on using that as a chat name.

hi pleased to meet you, I'm .................

monster 08-15-2011 08:31 AM

Don't mention the war

Just to be polite?

monster 08-15-2011 08:40 AM

How is it polite if you don't say anything about yourself?

monster 08-15-2011 08:47 AM

He's from Poland? See he should have mentioned that in the introduction

Big Sarge 08-15-2011 09:30 AM

As long as he's not of these loonie Brits, we'll be ok.

Maybe to some people, launching in with a bunch of stuff about themselves seems like attention seeking, whilst just saying a quick hello feels like the polite thing to do.

The OP just did the virtual equivalent of walking into our coffee shop and saying, 'Oh, hello my name's John, pleased to meet you'.

Oh, and welcome to the Cellar, John.

I disagree, dana. I think it's AWing to start a new thread without saying something other than hi. But that's Ok, there's always room for another. And meanwhile we've kept the thread nice and warm. And stylish.

sexobon, I think you're on to something

jimhelm 08-15-2011 10:28 AM

Sellers or Spammers?

Big Sarge 08-15-2011 11:12 AM

I think he might be a Jehovah's Witness. Quick, shut the door

DanaC 08-15-2011 11:23 AM

lol

Nah. If he's a Jovo invite him in and put him in the room with the pentagram themed wallpaper.

Or stick him Bri's room and leave him to ponder the corn dollies.

Big Sarge 08-15-2011 02:03 PM

I go to the door in my Panda suit. When you start talking about furry love, they tend to leave quickly

The reason I don't intro myself other than saying hi is because it's redundant. Just check my profile, but gimie a few minutes, as I couldn't fill it out before my first post was approved.

John Sellers 08-15-2011 03:49 PM

I'm still here. My posts had to be approved. I actually posted maybe 5 times so far.

jimhelm 08-15-2011 03:56 PM

After you've done your research, you can come back and re-answer #6, 7 and 8.
(I'll give you a hint on answer #6 - the answer is dolphin. Now you just need the question.)

Also...hello!

John Sellers 08-16-2011 12:40 AM

No, I don't think I have to. You see, I am whuchacall an asshole, and traditionally, assholes don't do whut they don't want to do. So you see, if I don't want to do as you suggest, I ain't gonna do it.

TTYL.

No, no, no...I was just poking Monster.

Monster, just havin a little fun...

infinite monkey 08-16-2011 07:23 AM

I swear someone else used that "in a van by the river" schtick before. Here in the Cellar. Anyone else remember that?

Clodfobble 08-16-2011 07:41 AM

It's from a classic Saturday Night Live sketch, lots of people refer to it.

infinite monkey 08-16-2011 07:42 AM

Ahhhhhh...thanks. Couldn't place it.

edit: chuckle...I was wondering how in the heck I didn't remember a 'classic' SNL skit, then I googled and found it was the Chris Farley era. Yeah. Not watchable. Was he shaking his belly around for laughs in that skit too?

Clodfobble 08-16-2011 10:10 AM

Yeah, the recurring character was only funny the one time David Spade and Christina Applegate were the other two cast members in the skit, and they just could not hold it together. Actors cracking up is one of those things I can't help but laugh at.

This Daily Show clip, for example, never fails to brighten my day.

infinite monkey 08-16-2011 11:03 AM

Ha!

I always loved when Tim Conway cracked up the cast on The Carol Burnett Show.

Specifically, motivational speaker Matt Foley played by Chris Farley.

I especially liked his elephant story.

infinite monkey 08-16-2011 12:03 PM

Yeah, that's the classic one! I posted it on the Cellar some time ago but it got all poo-poo'd at.

I love it! :)

Gravdigr 08-16-2011 05:21 PM

That skit is funnier than shit!!!

Fanorkie!!! And the other elephant's eyes got real big....

This has to be the funniest thing ever filmed. Unfortunately, you have to know the Carol Burnett Show, Mama's Family and Dick Van Dyke to realize it!!!
