A user need not log in (which shows up under Currently Active Users) to simply lurk. It seems more likely the user is PMing; or, has authorized someone else to monitor account activity.

Logging in also lets the system keep track of what posts have and haven't been read, otherwise the New Posts button doesn't work at all.

Yes, the account is still active. You can use the search function to find the user's posts by typing in the username; then, click on the username in the results page to access the user's profile. Only the membership listing is missing from the public board.

Maybe it's my super secret mod powers, but I see her on the member list, even when I refresh. What are you all talking about?

I'm talking about looking up "community" then "members" then "L" and not seeing her listed.

:lol: I too had checked several times. The first time I saw that it wasn't there was the reason I earlier speculated (post # 19) that the user might have signed in to request that the account be closed. Live and learn.

This is a user who WANTS to be noticed without interacting knowing full well that revealing a presence here is likely to generate discussion and probing. It's a diagnostic endeavor to elicit our feelings, after the passage of time and attrition, without the user ever having to actually ask us and it's being pulled off by someone already known to be smart enough and have an evasive character. If you need to put a label on the community's response to being used like this, you can call it counter-lurking. :eyebrow:
