which came through google translator as:

The carrot can be considered fruit in European Law due to the official definition of marmalade.

Because carrot marmalade (usually a slightly bitter orange jam - traditional breakfast toast topping here) is a Portuguese delicacy, the carrot needed to pass as a fruit to make the laws make sense.

Yeah. Like carrot as a fruit makes sense.

Except for changing 'flute' to 'root.'

It was a limerick. the "Or" just should have been on the end of the previous line.

IMHO, limericks need to rhyme. Even shifting the Or still leaves a repetition.
