We got here last eve. Beautiful here -- smells piney freshh!

Tomorrow we head to Portland.

glatt 07-18-2012 04:47 PM

I'm so envious. I love Tripp Lake. (and I only got a leech on me once when I swam in it.)

Eat a Sam's Italian for me.

DanaC 07-18-2012 05:10 PM

Yey. Have fun:)

Griff 07-18-2012 05:26 PM

Now there's a tag line!

Have a great time, Bri. Get in the water, enjoy!

Undertoad 07-18-2012 07:34 PM

Looked at a map. So the lake is literally Poland Springs water?

glatt 07-18-2012 07:48 PM

Yeah, growing up, one of my friends lived in Poland Springs, on a well, and he used to joke that he flushed his toilet with Poland Springs water, but he wasn't joking.

xoxoxoBruce 07-18-2012 11:19 PM

Excellent Bri, happy happy joy joy. :D

Trilby 07-19-2012 07:14 AM

Thanks all!!! It is v. Nice clear water but don 't think its Poland Spring water exactly lol. Sketchy wi fi service.

*COLD* here this morning - Yay!!!!

Ah, wish I could be with you! I loved my trip to Bar Harbor, although it was unfortunately hot and I had to contend with the seemingly psycho inn owner ... I do want to see more of inland Maine.

And get back to the LLBean Flagship store. That was a religious experience for me.

Trilby 07-24-2012 06:17 AM

Home after marathon drive from Poland, Maine to Dayton, Ohio or 981 miles.

took nearly 19 hours and one flat tire in Amesbury, Mass. but we made it.

I'm wiped out and my son re-arranged my house while I was gone. AND let my plants die.

Pay back is a bitch.

BigV 07-24-2012 05:05 PM

His. I'm going to let Karma take care of it. That'll teach him.

glatt 08-13-2012 06:31 AM

My turn. I'm in Lewiston, just a stone's throw from Tripp Lake.

We're heading to Popham today, and tomorrow we're going to introduce the kids to my favorite hike in the world. Tumbledown.

I'm going through some pictures now. One of my favorite bridges in the world is this one between Orr's Island and Bailey's Island. It's just about the simplest bridge you can make and very sturdy while still allowing tidal flow between the islands. They recently put a new deck on it. There's no mortar holding the blocks together. They just rest on one another like jenga.
