NCAA Bracket?

Dwellars?

BigV 03-12-2014 05:26 PM

pass, thanks anyhow.

Clodfobble 03-12-2014 09:09 PM

I know even less about basketball than I do about football, and that's saying something.

monster 03-12-2014 09:57 PM

wss

glatt 03-13-2014 07:09 AM

Are the brackets out?

Last year we had a March madness pool in our house, where everyone kicked in a dollar, and the winner got the $4 pot. whoo! Teaching the kids to gamble. Maybe next I should take them over to the District when they legalize pot and buy them doobies.

Griff 03-14-2014 05:54 AM

Dwellar parenting at its finest. Pete set up a bracket on espn for some meat world friends if anyone is desperate to create a bad habit.

Odds of picking a perfect bracket are about one in 9.2 quintillion.

orthodoc 03-14-2014 07:50 PM

What's a bracket? (Yes, I am ignorant - nevertheless ...)
I end up seeing snippets of quite a few March Madness games one way or another, and I do know the quarterfinals are on and semi-finals about to commence ... so, is it too late to set up what I presume is a prediction of how the last few rounds will go?

Griff 03-15-2014 07:16 AM

I'll pm you a link with group name and password. The bracket won't actually be filled until tomorrow. The various conference tournaments are what you've been seeing. I don't have any idea who is good this year, but this is a for fun bracket.

orthodoc 03-15-2014 12:45 PM

Just joined the group - thanks, Griff! I figure if the odds are that bad, I can just pick teams as I please and I'll have as good a chance of getting decent points as anybody. No gambling involved, but since the games are always on around our place it'll give me a little interest in the 'big dance'.

Griff 03-16-2014 07:36 AM

That's the way I look at it.

Sheldonrs 03-20-2014 08:44 AM

I know ZIP about any sports but I'm in a bracket at work and I entered the Billion Dollar one as well. All guesses.

glatt 03-20-2014 09:09 AM

The first time I ever did a bracket, I knew nothing. Zip. Nada. And going in to the final game, I was winning the entire office bracket worth about $500. But then my team lost the final game by one basket, and I got nothing.

xoxoxoBruce 03-20-2014 03:38 PM

And the other guy, after years of following the madness, charting the teams, spotting promising high school players, buying information sheets and 8x10 glossies with a paragraph on the back with the inside poop, wins by shit luck. :smack:

orthodoc 03-21-2014 07:19 AM

Heh ... doing all right so far :D

(Don't be a wet blanket now by telling me it's only the first round!)

glatt 03-21-2014 07:28 AM

You can't get to the later rounds without doing well in the first round.

And picking the upsets is the key. I got two of the upsets, but so far have 3 mistakes in the first round. My wife picked the Harvard upset. Good for her. I had been mocking her, saying that Harvard was a bunch of Mark Zuckerbergs, but she showed me.

Griff 03-21-2014 05:32 PM

I'm in trouble, I had UMass into the final 4.

orthodoc 03-22-2014 12:00 AM

Eek! Somehow, who knows how, I'm 97.5%. I'll take it; things are bound to change day by day. By the end of the weekend I'll have crashed in flames.

orthodoc 03-22-2014 09:30 PM

Aaand I have crashed before the weekend's done, 57.7%. How does Dayton beat Syracuse? How?

xoxoxoBruce 03-23-2014 12:50 AM

With malice and forethought.

Griff 03-23-2014 07:29 AM

Still better than me. I didn't know anything about this years teams and may know less now. :) Creighton is my last final four team.:sniff:

glatt 03-23-2014 11:42 AM

Half my final four teams are out.

orthodoc 03-23-2014 04:29 PM

Villanova is out. I still have 3 in the final four but that will almost certainly change, given the crazy upsets this weekend. Stanford beat Kansas?? Yikes.

Next year I'll print out the bracket, pin it to the wall, and throw darts at it to make my picks. Oh well - I'm actually not minding the fact that nothing but basketball is on, which was the point of doing this, and the web site keeps all the games updated practically to the minute. It's very weird how much energy goes into this.

orthodoc 03-23-2014 04:52 PM

Noooooo!!! Wichita State is out!

Spexxvet 03-24-2014 11:28 AM

6 teams in the sweet 16.

Sheldonrs 03-25-2014 01:03 PM

24 out of 48 so far in the Quicken Loan bracket.

I'm in 3rd place so far in the bracket at work but I can't win
since I had Duke as the champs and they're out already.

Not bad for all guess work though. :D

orthodoc 03-14-2015 11:02 AM

Anyone doing NCAA brackets again this year?

Ya only need two letters this year.

U and K.

:D

Prolly jinxed 'em, right there.

elSicomoro 03-14-2015 07:27 PM

I think Wyoming might be my "favorite" team this year. I don't think they've been in the tournament in 20 years.

No. U and K sums it up. Go cats!

elSicomoro 03-14-2015 08:21 PM

As long as it's U and K and not K and U.

In order to be successful at this, you want to pick the winning teams. As many as possible.

elSicomoro 03-16-2015 03:03 PM

Wyoming is my sleeper pick. They just seem like the team that can do it. At least, I think they can beat UNI (who I think is overrated).

Ouch. Damn them Fargon Badgers! I hope an eagle poops on his car!:D

Oh, well...We had a good run.

elSicomoro 04-05-2015 03:18 PM

Did I mention that my employer (a well-known university in the US) sent an email reminding us that betting on the tournament is illegal? Probably did it to discourage office pools, specifically.

Griff 04-05-2015 04:17 PM

I didn't get around to filling out a bracket. I would have had like 2 teams left by round of 16, not good, but I did expect the Badgers to win it all! (based on seeing them once)
