I need a Tattoo
I am not in love with my backwards, L shaped scar that I have, courtesy of a tractor loader bucket spike. I posted it somewhere on this site stitches and all when it happened 2 years ago? Any hoo I thought I would dress it up [camouflage?] It is on the outside of my left calf about midway up I have 2 questions....
1) What should I put there 2) How do you find a tattoo artist? |

Why hide such a righteous scar, that's almost as good as a dueling scar.;)
|
When you see local people with tattoos that look good, ask them where they got it done, and keep asking till someone tells you someone local. Its a good idea to have something in mind before you start. Some kind of theme at leazt, then refine the idea with the tattoo artist. Thats my advice.
Maybe you should get a tractor (haha), or something that represents rural life? Maybe the tree of life image? Or you could get kurt cobains head. |
Tattoo of a calf on her calf.

Calf on 1 calf , Chihullie chihullie on the other

You could make it into one of the Ls in Cellar ...not that anyone here is backwards. You could have the Grim Reaper upside down and make that her scythe? If it were me, I'd leave it. But I'm a wuss about permanent body alterations |
Got a name and saw some ink that blew me away! If I was younger I would have a small being looking at the inside of my wound and another trying to sew it up ;) Since I am older I will go for something classier. I will have to save for awhile kinda pricey but I want something like this : sometimes the Cellar does not allow me to post photos or my server >:(

Some of those are just lovely. You've got me thinking of a peacock tattoo now! haha

Will you post a pic of the scar as of now so we can make a more informed suggestion?
I could design something for you. I have a BFA, you know, and I'm artistic as hell. |

Here ya go
|
Do a re-enactment of the accident.
|
F3 I know you are a major talent! You would design something for little 'ole me? :O :) I like the idea of a Peacock because the feathers could camo the rough surface of my scar. Still cannot post photos here %^&%! Maybe I will open my dreaded internet explorer and see if that will work.

Is there a difference between scar tissue and regular skin in terms of how it tattoos?
|
I don't think so it depends on how you position the design.

Waiting for my camera battery to charge. Great link xoxoxoBruce
If I said no to all the questions can I still get a tattoo please please please? ;) Picture soon, scar is over 2 years old and not very noticeable maybe I just want a tattoo, you know being an attention whore and all :P |
Maybe incorporating the scar into the design rather than trying to hide it, might be cool.
You can email me the picture and I can put it up for you. |

Yes that was my idea F3 that's why I chose the peacock maybe the feathers have the right shapes. The photo makes it look worse than it does in person LOL not many people notice it or all people are really polite ;) I don't really want a bat tattoo ;)
Attachment 48031 I am off to work now... |
If you like the peacock how about a phoenix?
Courage in adversity, rising from the ashes? Cloud had one - because of her terrible burns. My evil ex had one too, but don't let that put you off. |
About 3 weeks ago, I had a lotus done on my inner arm (it's on my FB, and I'm willing to share if you want to see). I found my artist by asking friends who had ink, and getting their recommendations on not only studios, but artists at that studio. I then went to their website and looked around, seeing what they offered, and if they seemed to be a reputable studio.
I drew my own art, so I took it down, showed it to my artist (who had more ink than skin), we talked about it, tweaked a little bit, and it took about 45 minutes to do all of it. I would definitely recommend that you talk to them about the coverage for your scar tissue - sometimes it holds colors differently - so as the art ages, it may look a little...odd. However, that said, I've seen some gorgeous chest pieces for women who have had mastectomies, and they did vine work along the surgical scars. Make sure that whatever you get speaks to you - that it tells part of your story - you'll be living with it for a long long time. The lotus - yes. We won't talk about my elmo ;) Kellie |
That scar looks like a dragon.
|
It's a shark!
No really, it says scorpion to me. Or an eagle in flight. Is this a Rorschach test? |
|
I think Cloud had a peacock covering her scar tissue. she had her own website/blog thing somewhere. If you can track her down she might be able to help.
Don't tell her I sent you |
Thanks Monster

Sundae I saw some Phoenix tattoos a bit masculine but nice, I like this too but it may also be a bit masculine roosters are supposed to be for bravery and valor. I don't subscribe to cock fighting but I admire the tenacity much like a Beta [Siamese Fighting fish] I just wonder about saying I have a fish on my leg or a cock! ;)

Here's what I mean about incorporating the scar, more at making it the centerpoint of the tattoo, rather than masking it with plumage.
I see it as something like, the lower jaw of a great white shark, which would be funny because of the shark bite implication. Or as the limb of a tree upon which either a lion rests or a monkey hangs or something. And then there's the pin-up girl sitting on the moon, again a leg reference. Just some ideas. But I think the main thing is to make the scar center-stage and make a statement about it. Nirvana's scar: I'm Rick James, bitches! |
I like your idea just not some of the art. As for the shark I want to wear dresses be elegant not fit in at a butch lesbian biker bar. [/asshole comment] ;) The monkey is cute
|
The art was jst crap I grabbed off the internet. You'll have to talk to your artist and see what he/she comes up with.
The shark IS a little .38 special. I prefer the girl in the moon, but I've always been a leg man... |
|
I found a free hand tattoo artist :) May have to visit for an estimate LOL And F3 why would I want a gal in the moon on my leg? :eyebrow:
|
and Footy I am disappoint :( here I thought I was going to have something of yours on my leg >sniff<
|
Why do I picture dry humping?

You certainly don't want a man on your leg, do you? |
 Footy! No refer to Sundae's post
|
Get ya a big ol' nipple tattooed right thar on ya leg!
:lol2: |
"Nipple leg" that would be worse than any grade school nick name
|
dragonfly
|
Just make sure it's not too stylised. If it looks to much like a Lambda you might get some unwanted attention!
|
What about a sexy panda?

NSFW link to tattoo.
It features a Native American. It's cultural. Cultural = classy. And it has a dog in it. |
Dear wireless internet high speed or broadband please make your way to my country abode. KTHXBai
Too heavy a page for me to load Sundae, since it's main theme is humping I get your drift ..... I don't need my leg or any part of me humped right now I'm good ;) |
I'd usually save it and paste it into the link, but I don't want anyone to get a surprise at work.
|
Yes, Sundae, I can see how this tattoo might surprise some folks.
The link is to another Cellar thread. |
