Tesla Semi makes a cool sound as it accelerates

Sound in the video on this page:

https://electrek.co/2018/09/22/tesla...-accelerating/

The sound of the future, as the page points out.

xoxoxoBruce 09-22-2018 08:53 PM

He sounded almost giddy this truck had traveled over 3,000 miles. WTF? That's nothing for a big rig.

fargon 09-23-2018 08:43 AM

That's almost a weeks work.

Griff 09-23-2018 08:59 AM

I'd like to thank Frontier for preventing me from seeing the future. So is it more of a whhooosh or a wa wa wa wa or a Trump Admin Whomp?

xoxoxoBruce 09-23-2018 11:59 AM

A tone of increasing pitch.

Undertoad 09-23-2018 12:20 PM

A little like some light rail taking off?

glatt 09-23-2018 02:15 PM

Sounds like Metro.

Happy Monkey 09-23-2018 03:57 PM

I'm guessing it's the sound of a drive train, absent the sound of an internal combustion engine.

xoxoxoBruce 09-23-2018 08:53 PM

Yeah, that's the ticket, a trolly, or subway. My buddy said an electric drill.

Undertoad 09-23-2018 09:03 PM

A Tesla semi can accelerate much faster than a diesel truck, but will it want to, or will it choose range as what it wants to achieve?* If it accelerates more slowly, I think it can be pretty silent, like the cars.

*I ask, as if the vehicle is making the decision.

fargon 09-24-2018 12:10 PM

I couldn't get the video to load.

lumberjim 09-24-2018 01:05 PM

it sounds to me like a muted version of a wind up car.

fargon 09-25-2018 02:24 PM

Cool, Thank You Sir.

Pamela 10-03-2018 03:44 PM

Phooey!

Gimmee the deep-throated growl of a Cat C15 or a DD-16 any day. Black smoke out of the stacks a plus.

Gravdigr 10-03-2018 04:05 PM

I'll take a big-block Chebbolet, two fours, singing a high song. From about, oh, say, 5,000 rpm, and building.

And no smoke out the pipes, if you please.:D

tw 10-03-2018 05:22 PM

Noise increase means quality of an engine decreases. Anyone can make a loud, throaty engine. That is simply gas burning in exhaust pipes rather than in the engine. More noise means a lower performance (and higher failure rate) engine. Often an engine using obsolete technology (1960 vintage) manufacturing techniques (ie low quality milling machines).

lumberjim 10-03-2018 08:27 PM

Hopeless

Gravdigr 10-04-2018 05:26 AM

Ijit.

Yeph. The hopeless assume a big noise makes them a man. Some must buy lower power vehicles with more pistons. Noise makes their penis bigger. These typically would be Trump supporters.

Yup I like Trump and I have a itsy bitsy dick, but a long tongue. My Heritage has straight pipes and I must wear an earplug in the right ear. This Road King is quieter with actual baffles in the pipes. Less sound is better by far for power and less headaches. Plus my dick has gotten bigger already.
