If the Democratic party of Iowa had been running the vote, we would never have found out.

Probably not.

Absolutely. Hell, Ford pardoning Nixon doubled the power of the executive branch.

This more or less makes it unlimited.

I don't think anyone expected any Republicans to break ranks. Mitt was a surprise.

Mitt is about as much a Repub as Joe Scarborough was a Repub.

That's sumthin' they have in common with Trump: RINO.

He again and intentionally quotes "out of context". A characteristic also found in the Nazi party. Henry is more honest (only about that one point) than Trump. And since Trump lies like Hitler, what does that really say about Henry? Oh, he forget to mention that was the point. It is what extremists do.

Who lies more? The Don or Henry? By numbers - the Don. By percentage? Hard to say.

fixed it, just for you

Henry doesn't lie. He isn't always right or wrong, but I firmly believe he says what he believes. :yesnod:

Mitt is what Republican was. Now Republican is whatever Trump is.

sexobon 02-06-2020 06:32 AM

Tw doesn't fool us, he's secretly rejoicing in that he has more time to get on Trump's list.

Griff 02-06-2020 06:35 AM

He'll make it, he just needs to buckle down.

Republican is now whatever Trump is; also, Democratic is now whatever Trump isn't.

Also it's high school all over again, forever. The cool kids. The drama. The cliques.

How does one get vetted for "in fact" if winning the Republican primary isn't sufficient?

Well, first you have to remain orthodox to the Church of Trump.

If Trump moves away from traditional republican values, you have to move with him, because Trump is the only current republican value.

Happy Monkey 02-06-2020 01:05 PM

henry is saying Trump doesn't count either.

sexobon 02-06-2020 04:18 PM

The important thing to take away from this acquittal is that we'll continue seeing Ivanka to relish her beauty and keep her up on her pedestal. I'd bang her if I could; but, I wouldn't want to listen to her talk...that's what her husband is for. A man has got to have his priorities. I just want to admire her from afar; or, from behind if I can find us a way to ditch the Secret Service. Some of them though, like me, are former SFers which makes planning difficult. I might need another four years to work out the details.

xoxoxoBruce 02-06-2020 04:23 PM

You can have her I like women less plastic, more human, and with better taste.

sexobon 02-06-2020 04:37 PM

Awhile ago, I read an article in which Rosie O'Donnell said, after meeting Ivanka, that Ivanka was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. Rosie's a lesbian; so, she would know. I'm sure Ivanka tastes just fine.

Exactly.

Trump is a non-idealogical state-capitalist usin' Repub machinery.

Rand Paul is a consequentialist libertarian usin' Repub machinery.

buhbuhBernie is a communist, er, democratic socislist (state socialist) usin' Dem machinery.

Mitt is a evangelical sumthin' or other usin' Repub mschinery.

Bill & Hill: a hedonist and an opportunist usin' Dem machinery.

Really, as I think on it, conventional Repub/Dem ideology really doesn't mean much for any of the elected folks. It's just labels to them.

Happy Monkey 02-06-2020 06:44 PM

If everyone is "in name only" then it doesn't really say anything when you apply it to a particular person.

Tell that to all the voters who take R/D ideology seriously, who work overtime to shoehorn themselves and candidates into those boxes.

Those who rule: play the polar game to get, and stay, elected.

Those who are ruled: actually take the poles seriously.

The machinery exists to be used.

By politicians, for lobbyists.

And there is not a single federal level politician or appointee that doesn't understand this.

Strange: I thought it was supposed to be by the people, for the people.

xoxoxoBruce 02-10-2020 12:05 PM

That can only happen if the people give a rats ass and participate, but they've delegated that power to the political hacks.

fargon 02-10-2020 12:09 PM

I suppose that works, if you also believe in the tooth fairy and the immaculate conception of Ayn Rand.

Balls.

"Everything" is provided, so I can run my department at work without having to spend all my time learning how to install a road, etc, and YOU get to go to work knowing that runoff from our factory isn't going into your drinking water.

henry quirk 02-12-2020 11:31 AM

yep, I got a big brassy pair.

I cannot escape a vision of small teams of Ursus maritimus knocking soccer balls around...

C'mon, Henry -- you know full well Ayn Rand, Jewess, crawled out from under Soviet oppression by passenger ship in the 1920's. I guess they hadn't developed refuseniki yet...
