Cool changes, Tony
I like.
|
Let me guess, you downloaded a new browser.
(wtf you talkin about dude) |
Wait, you mean how I finally fixed the footer in IE?
|
No, but something weird happened. When I reloaded the "View new posts" page or whatever, there was a link on each one saying "Go to first unread post" which is the thing it's been missing. I thought you had added it or something.
Guitar string breaker. |
Oh shit! If you click that button, it takes you there! A-ha! HAHAHA!
I HAVE BEEN WANTING THAT FEATURE FOR AT LEAST TWENTY MINUTES NOW! FINALLY, IT IS HERE! (or I've discovered its availability, anyway.) |
Umm you mean this one?
http://www.cellar.org/images/firstnew.gif That's been around forever... was your browser smoking something? |
No, I just discovered it. I had never clicked it before. When the button didn't load, the text "Go to first unread post" showed up and I was like "Dude, The Tone rules!" But then I realized that it was just that button, and while the Tone still rules, his ruling-ness is less supreme that what I thought it was.
|
Well I DID finally fix the footer in IE.
(Can't believe it looked like crap for so long. Will everyone please just use Mozilla already!) |
For real. The last time I used IE was... oh yeah, yesterday. To do my timecard. Well, outside of work, it's been a long time. Mozilla & Firebird & Safari & Camino are where it's at.
|
There are still some garbage sites that break if you don't use Exploder. And we have a database at work with a web access module that refuses to work without IE. Which I always thought was stupidity incarnate--I thought the POINT of web client access was portability.

Gack. It's even in telephones... I'm scoping out new PBXs, and the one that really makes me say, "hmmmm, this is cool, I'd like to have this one" is built on Windows 2000. I mean it's an embedded system, they could have used any OS they wanted. It's the one thing holding me back from giving it my whole-hearted recommendation, because I'm concerned about stability and security.

Is their such a thing as the Double S's in Computer
SS Stability and Security Or maybe the Triple S's SSS Stability, Security, and Speed I havn't been drinking my mind is just going it's own way tonight. |

I only use IE at home for sites like that...and the games on the iWon toolbar. (Spy Hunter and Joust rule!) |
MSNBC functions fine for me with Mozilla. I think you're just a retard.
|
My platoon sergeant always said I'm gonna have retarded kids, because I use the word retarded to describe people.
Of course, he's a retard. |

I also write my pages in HTML, and since I'm self taught, I learned the IE code. Sometimes my stuff doesn't work in Netscape. Which version of HTML does Mozilla support, in other words, since I code for IE, would Mozilla recognize that or does it use the Netscape version? |
OH, EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW it's like Netscape! Ugh...quick..let me uninstall this... Ugh...
...................... OK, that's better. Ugh. For those of you that like tabs but prefer IE, go to www.crazybrowser.com . I have to go shower to get the netscapishness off me.... |
Mozilla will probably resolve your pages more like IE than Netscape, except Netscape 6+, which were roughly based on Mozilla. Mozilla/NS6+ are based on web standards and follow them more closely than IE.
Crazy Browser is IE's guts with a new layer on top and tabs are one of their additions. |
I'm sorry, UT (and Dave), but I can't get over it's Netscapishness. I've been traumatized by NS since version 4.76 and up....I keep trying it and it screwed me every time. I'm done trying with it. And wont use anything that even look similar.
|
That's OK, just use the Modern theme instead of the Classic.
(View -> Apply Theme -> Modern, or you can Get New Themes and make it look completely and totally different.) |
ok.... just because I trust you, UT, I'll try it....
|
Don't just take my word for it, read this
http://mozilla.org/products/firebird/why/ That page is talking about Firebird, which is the Mozilla Browser (basically) and is on a pre-release version. Mozilla 1.4 is the latest Mozilla and everything on that page also applies to Mozilla. |
I should say that most people could just get Firebird if they want to try it out and get some of these nifty features. Even though it's release 0.61, it's pretty good.
|
Well, I reinstalled it.... changed to a skypilot skin since I couldn't seeme to find an IE skin that worked... but it's still got Netscape all over it. It's called "navigator", has "messenger", "composer".... those are all Netscape apps and work like netscape apps. Edit/Preferences, to change the home page for instance. It seems to me that they took the Netscape code and modified it, like CrazyBrowser did to IE.... Am I way off base here?
|
Skypilot is awesome! It's always been my favorite.
Mozilla rose from the ashes of Netscape. The first thing they did was to completely throw out all of Netscape that had anything to do with rendering web pages. This is the guts of the web browser - what takes HTML and its brethren and turns it into web pages. So while there are one or two things that have the same titles and such, the "meat" of it is completely new. For now, one can just use the browser part of the suite and just forget about mail/newsgroups and Composer, unless you need them. (It's never a bad idea to get rid of Outlook) |
True enough (about the Outlook). I'll have to play with it and see what happens. I'm just having a hard time overcoming my traumatic experiences.... *shiver* I'll start with the mail client.....
|
The only problem is that *sigh* Skypilot doesn't work so well with the Mozilla mail client in 1.4.
Now, Skypilot is an add-on, so it's the author of Skypilot's fault, not Mozilla's fault... That's why I love Skypilot, but I use Modern. |
OK, how do I create/edit stationery in here? Does it exist? The help file has no information under "stationery". Am I looking for the wrong thing?? Help! I've been a wind-ers victim and I can't get out! |
