The "DC Sniper" trials turned up this interesting item: Malvo's notebook. The jottings of a 17-year-old show us that he was a pretty confused lad, instructed by Black Muslim teachings and grown into a state of rage. He identified with Jihad, drew heroic images of Hussein and Khaddafi, seems to have believed in the Matrix in some form, and wrote disconnected quotes from all of the above.

The full set of drawings is here, interpersed with PDF court documents. It doesn't read like a trip into madness, more like a kid so full of rage that it had to come out.

I could read all that (and did read a little) but I thought I'd post another drawing that Malvo might consider familiarizing himself with:

I have seen more than my fair share of crazy-guy stuff.

What's on that page is too organized, too coherent.

Of course, I'm no highly paid court expert.

But I do know crazy.

I have some crazy guy art around here somewhere ... (my best piece is a 40 or more single spaced typed screed that inlcudes occasional hand underlinings and illustrations. I misplace it, and recover it every so often. I'll have to actually initiate a search for it, in hopes that I can share some of it with you.)

I'd like to see some of the artwork you have wolf.. if you're allowed to share it.... ..

Where are the matrix references in this? I don't think I could find them.

The Matrix bits aren't on this page, but I saw it on a few of the other pages.

This one (link below) came after the arrest in the jailhouse and says "Free yourself of the matrix "control" free first your mind. Trust me! The body will follow."

Yeah, I was a little thrown off by that too, but I think that the paper is in one of the plastic paper-cover things, and the sticker is on the outside of the plastic....

Don't be...many people are not familiar with that aspect of American history (not surprising). Your jaw would drop at the amount of history not included in textbooks (or the inaccurate accounts of history in those books). :rolleyes:

Yes, it implies a whole slew of beliefs and thoughts not just of Malvoe's, but also of the society he lives in.
It is a very interesting statement.


But to paraphrase in a way that puts things into perspective...

"Blue is not eye color, it's a state of mind"

Doesn't that sound like nonsense?

skin color is important because people have fixated on it as something that seperates groups.

Then again, racists such as the KKK don't harass people because of eye color, so the fact is that skin has a profound effect on a person's opportunities and aspirations.

Should that have to be the case?

Whoa! I wish that I'd been taught about Willie Lynch in school. That's some powerful stuff, and I notice that much of it applies to most people these days.

It's not even a very good method of separating groups based on ethnicity, which I believe is what it's supposed to do. Quoth Scientific American: "approximately 30 percent of Americans who consider themselves 'white' have less than 90 percent European ancestry. " Skin color doesn't matter.

Historic document?? The US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, the Gettysburg Address, The first episode script of I love Lucy, but that?:confused:

thought it would be clear enough when I busted on the webmaster (funnything for an antislavery site to have, isn't it?) for deleting the "n-word" from the speech.

I thought it was strange to delete "nigger" from the Willie Lynch speech. I think they're missing an opportunity tie "nigger" firmly to the worst treatment of a group of people, the world has ever known.
"Spic", "Dago", "Kike", "Pollack", etc. are insults and derogatory, but "nigger" alone is integral and symbolic of the heinous inhumanity that was slavery.

I noticed that African drum link didnt print "bitch" in the text either, probably because they intend its use by school kids.

Last spring when we had some historic lynching photos in the museum. I remember one kid in particular, a black guy about 14 years old, so angry and amazed. And his teacher did a great job of talking him through what he was looking at. But it was clear that he could hardly believe it. I think it was because it was a real, original document. Maybe a story for the disillusionment thread. Its some big anger to channel.

here's another one from his "notebook" this guy is seriously screwed up! if y'all can't read it ok, let me know and i'll post it in it's origial size......

I saw a notebook that was somewhat like this.. not violently screwed up.

A girl was flirting with me, but I didn't pay all that much attention to it and she started chatting with this guy. He had a notebook 1/3rd full of stuff that he had written and drawn, presumably while he was in High School.

I glanced at it, and was interested in the philosophy he had... for about a paragraph, when I realized that it was all rah-rah-rah with no substance. Even without substance, the blurbs I read managed to contain a handful of factual errors.

He tells her that he knows a lot about astronomy and the galaxies, so I ask him:
"What's the nearest galaxy?"
"Alpha Centauri, a million light years away from us"

I frown, and stop paying attention.

1) The existence of discrimination against black people does not rule out discrimination against white people

2) The existence of discrimination against black people does not justify discrimination against white people. Maybe for every New Jersey driver pulled over for DWB, they replace one white student with a black student at Rutgers? How does that solve anything?

3) Supporting elimination of affirmative action is not racism, and claiming it is is merely an attempt to poison the well.

4) Nor, for that matter, is supporting "three strikes" racism. "Three strikes" is a bad idea, a discrete solution where a continuous one is called for. It's a band-aid on a festering wound. But it's not in itself racist.

Some of the other things listed there are examples of racism, but it looks to me that Ms. Elliot has mixed in some dodgy examples along with some undeniable ones in order to lend credibility to the dodgy ones.
