Thrills, Chills ...

and you know what that means ...

PLASTIC FORKS!!!!!

Saturday, June 26 is the official start-date. (it's not like it's that open ended an event, but as last year's attendees know, by tradition things are still going on, or actually kind of restart, after people regain consciousness on Sunday.)

Photographic evidence of last year's revels.

elSicomoro 05-01-2004 07:55 AM

Aw, fuck yeah! I was just thinking about Forks the other day...man, what a party!

Questions to ponder for this year:

--Will Slang show up? (Wolf, he told me a few weeks ago that he probably wouldn't be coming...do something!)
--If Slang shows up, will he attempt to cook over an open flame again?
--Will Jimbo replace Bitmap as the cheerleader?
--Who will Maria become friendly with? My money is on Toad.
--What will I leave behind this year?

This will rock and not suck. :)

ladysycamore 05-03-2004 05:08 PM

Have fun ya'll. I'll be hiding from the cicadas...:p

I was going to ask you in a week or two when it is this year, since I'm too lazy to find out when the solstice is. I called Dragon17 and we'll try to make it.

Does Bob want me to bring my grill again? I'll make sure to bring some more desserts this year.

And yes, I will bring the bodhran, although someone else may have to play it.

Wheee! It will be great to see both of you! :)

Yes, I'm sure the grill will be quite welcome. Any device that has been recalled and comes with safety warnings fits right in.

The bodhran is also a welcome addition, especially if you get the go-ahead from the Mrs. to hang out into the darkness hours for drumming around the bonfire! There will likely be more than a few people who will be happy to provide bodrhan instruction. I have one that I rarely play, mostly I use a Native American style frame drum.

You know, I especially liked the part about 'resembles a lush Christmas tree'. If it were legal, you could buy a marijuana tree and decorate it for the holidays with popcorn and candy canes. When the holiday is over you could smoke the tree and eat the popcorn and candy canes for the munchies. No more rotting Christmas trees in the trash. http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/...ggrinsanta.gif :joint:

BTW, just in case I ever decide to run for political office, I have actually never tried marijuana. I just went to college in the 70's and don't consider it any more of a social problem than tobacco, alcohol, or any number of unsafe things people should be allowed to do.

well make sure you bring enough "tobacco" to share, big guy

elSicomoro 05-08-2004 12:02 PM

As already mentioned, you have to bring enough weed for everyone...you better get cracking on obtaining such a large quantity.

richlevy 05-22-2004 06:32 PM

BTW, I will be bringing the Xyron 510 to Plastic Forks. If you come, bring a homemade bumper sticker (or window sticker) up to 5" tall and I will add the adhesive/laminate.

Elionwyr 06-01-2004 10:33 PM

richlevy 06-13-2004 10:34 AM

Countdown to P-Day

So, I'll be bringing the bodhran and bumper sticker machine for the entertainment and crafts portion of the event.

I have invited 3 friends. Dragon17, who was there last year. Joe. and Bob. I also told my son he could drop by.

I will try to bring enough food for them so that I make a positive contribution to the event.

Joe is a nice guy, and Bob is as interesting as a person can get and not have an arrest warrant out for them or meet Wolf in her professional capacity.

elSicomoro 06-13-2004 10:51 AM

Rich, are you bringing your grill?

wolf 06-13-2004 11:27 AM

Who needs directions?

start date: 6/26 end date: when the last drunk leaves the lawn

elSicomoro 06-13-2004 11:31 AM

Tell Bob to put the fork out there, and I'll have no problem finding it.

What time do festivities start? I'm not sleeping in my car this year, and want to make sure I get a good spot on the floor.

lumberjim 06-13-2004 11:38 AM

spot on the floor? what, you have to claim your sleeping spot when you arrive? you don't just sleep wherever you happen to fall over? I have commitments early sunday, so won't be staying over. jinx and I are negotiating for driving responsibilty. i'll probably lose. no big. i'm afraid i might come off as obnoxious, or something if i'm drunk.......;) ...not the mild, caring person I truly am in person.

I wouldn't recommend it. Slang's camera was a victim of the morning dew last year. And I damned near killed myself sleeping in my car, so I want a spot where I can throw out my flip chair and call it a day.

You have to be committed? I understand.

wolf 06-13-2004 01:49 PM

The "official" start time is around 3pm on Saturday. Showing up earlier is not that much of a problem.

The "claiming" refers to soft crash space only ... if you want to sleep on the floor, or outside on the ground there is plenty to go around.

Tents and trailers are welcome (yes, we've had people bring campers).

Just don't park on the bonfire.

Yep. I also got some more of the D&W Beef Hot Sausages. You bring your own Tums.

I know someone is doing desserts, but I'll still grab a few Entemann's cakes from the outlet store.

BTW, I forgot, is there a regfrigerator in the basement? I seem to remember one.

My only rule is no pork on my grill. Being inconsistent, I don't have a problem with seafood, even though it isn't kosher.

That's what I was going to ask...cool beans.

I'll probably bring some beef hot dogs along with some chips, soda, a case of good beer and a bottle of some type of alcohol.

wolf 06-13-2004 09:13 PM

Yes, we have access to a fridge in the basement. The stove doesn't work, though.

xoxoxoBruce 06-14-2004 03:11 PM

We will have fire, however.:)

lumberjim 06-14-2004 03:12 PM

you're the pallet man, yes? you want i should save some extras aside? we have a pretty impressive pile out back at this point.

xoxoxoBruce 06-15-2004 04:45 PM

No, I'm cool.:)

jaguar 06-15-2004 05:00 PM

Bringing in the dodads by the container now are we bruce? ;)

richlevy 06-15-2004 05:50 PM

How is it shaping up for attendance this year? How many from the Cellar are going?

Last year was fun, but it was a smaller group than I expected, probably due to weather.

How many were there the year before last?

I'm bringing 5 pounds of burgers and 6 pounds of beef sausage. That would feed about 20 people.

BTW, will someone please bring ketchup and relish?

SteveDallas 06-15-2004 05:52 PM

I'm undecided. When do we need to RSVP?

elSicomoro 06-15-2004 05:56 PM

As I understand it, last year is the first year that Cellarites came to Forks.

Steve, don't be a stick in the mud. Show up, damnit! :)

I know. Last year it was about 7 or 8 Cellarites and 12 non. I assumed it was because the weather sucked.

While I don't like crowds, I was sort of expecting 40-50 people. Still, it was a nice mellow crowd and I had some good conversations. The bonfire was very nice.

elSicomoro 06-15-2004 06:21 PM

I thought there would be more people total, but the number of Cellarites seemed about right.

It was awesome...a good time was had by all. Hopefully, this year will be even better, even with Jim there. ;)

you spelled especially wrong. ;)

we'll have some fun, you and me. i plan on pantsing you as soon as i get there, and maybe throwing in a pinkbelly if i catch you off guard. i'm bringing a frisbee or 3, a hackeysack, and my drum, so don't think i'm going to let you loll away the evening. I'll be arriving fashionably late, of course, so make sure you're at least 2 sheets to the wind by 6pm. i'm much easier to get along with when you're drunk. ;)

no, for real, syc, we'll have a good time.

elSicomoro 06-15-2004 08:07 PM

Started toking early tonight, I see...

Show up.

There isn't an official RSVP. Who the fuck do you think we are? Emily Fucking Post?? ;)

One of the interesting bits about forks is that we never know who is going to make it ... also, because of the date algorithm, people who haven't been for like the last 10 years are able to just show up.

BrianR 06-16-2004 11:06 AM

If I said I'll be there, no one from the Cellar will show up. And I'll be late.

:haha:

I just checked the weather. One site says thuderstorms for Kennett Square on Saturday and another says rain and drizzle. S :censored: t!

I just got the Red Devil out of storage and spent a half hour cleaning and prepping it. I even got to take it over to a friends house for a last minute grill.

While I have been cooking some meals for my family, Plastic Forks was going to be my first public BBQ this season, seeing as how my wife insisted on f:censored:g cold cuts for my son's graduation.

I'm still going as long as it's still on, but I'm not quite crazy enough to grill in a thunderstorm.

BTW, here's a picture of my BBQ baby all cleaned up.

elSicomoro 06-21-2004 09:28 PM

NBC10 says partly cloudy and 82. My-cast says possibility of rain and 81. The weather's been rather odd the last couple of months...hopefully we'll be as lucky this year as we were last year.

xoxoxoBruce 06-21-2004 09:37 PM

They haven't got much of a track record for 48 hours no less 5 days, so I'm not worried yet. :)

lumberjim 06-21-2004 09:42 PM

yeah, I go out of my way to ignore the weather. Especially this month. they don't fucking know...

BrianR 06-22-2004 08:16 AM

My attendance is highly weather-dependant.

You see, I am going to be on my motorcycle and I hate getting soaked. Plus I have no windshield wipers and little cargo capacity (no tater salad BOO HOO!). Not to mention a dog who doesn't like the noise and wind and can't even lie down.

If I held a picnic similar to Forks on, say, Labor Day-ish, would anyone come? I promise to pick up the dog doo before you all arrive!

Brian

Although: I just thought of it, I do have a car that can make the trip although it's out-of-date on the inspection (needs tires). If it's raining, the cops might not notice the sticker and I can get through. We'll see...

Fear not. Bob has an "arrangement" about the weather.

One year it was raining buckets in Norristown as I bought the watermelon.

I headed down 202.

As soon as I crossed the Chester County line ... SUN. It was like the curtain of rain parted. It was kind of freaky, but you get used to it.

Rain was predicted last year too.

Oh, and we DO have the use of the basement. There are dry places to be, although running around in the rain and playing umbrella frisbee are forks tested and approved activities.

Oh, and I DO still have Brian's umbrella and hat in the trunk of my car.

BrianR 06-22-2004 03:27 PM

so THAT'S where they went! I was wondering what I had done with them. Now I have to come, darn it! ;)

Brian

elSicomoro 06-24-2004 10:38 PM

Alright...you bitches ready?

Who the hell is all going, anyway?

elSicomoro 06-24-2004 10:39 PM

Forecast for Saturday: Partly cloudy and 80. If that holds, it's gonna be a great day.

BrianR 06-24-2004 10:52 PM

I should be able to make it, by about six-ish or so.

Where's the motorcycle parking area?

wolf 06-24-2004 11:58 PM

Pretty much anywhere but the roof of the house.

Actually, you could park there assuming that you could get it there, not damage the roof, and get it down afterward.

BrianR 06-25-2004 07:16 AM

I still feel guilty for turfing Bob's lawn last year, not to mention those hardy souls unfortunate enough to be standing behind my right rear wheel. I think I'll just go for the bottom of the hill.

Brian

wolf 06-25-2004 01:21 PM

I know that most people have difficulty with this one ...

You are actually allowed to drive on the lawn.

It grows back.

I guess I have to go... I just bought a case of beer to bring to it. Be a shame to back out, and have to drink all the beer myself, wouldn't it??

Dagney 06-25-2004 04:55 PM

I won't be joining you fine folks this year...

But I 'may' be checking in to see if anyone's fallen in the bonfire...

So someone stay sober enough to answer the darn phone!

richlevy 06-25-2004 08:08 PM

Bumper Sticker Maker

I will be bringing the Xyron 510. So I can convert any strip of paper "5 or less wide into a bumper sticker. No real limit on length but be reasonable.

Don't let an election year go to waste.:typing:

Oh, and I will bring the bodhran (frame drum) if someone else will play it.
