5/16/2005: Dog and cat, living together

http://cellar.org/2005/catdog.jpg

... mass hysteria.

This is not the usual IotD territory, I think -- but the more I looked at this image, the more hilarious I thought it was. Having lived with both animals, I can just imagine this coming to pass. After a while I figured it was just too priceless not to post. Have a nice day and week, IotDers!

acinerba 05-16-2005 09:39 AM

I like how they match in color. Black with white underbellies.

Undertoad 05-16-2005 10:32 AM

I also have to say, this image is a perfect analogy for my ex-marriage. And I was the dog.

CzinZumerzet 05-16-2005 10:52 AM

My cat and I loved this picture but I do feel sorry for the poor old dog, and the look on his face is absolutely priceless isn't it.

lookout123 05-16-2005 11:21 AM

i think the dog's look is saying, "i'm sure glad i left fleas in that bed. next time she gets up, i'll pee on the blanket."

Elspode 05-16-2005 12:21 PM

Oh man...that is one of the funniest pictures I've ever seen. If ever a dog was actively plotting revenge...

Trilby 05-16-2005 01:09 PM

He must be a good doggie. None of the shoes looked chewed on. Good boy!

And everybody knows Cats Rule and Dogs Drool.

wolf 05-16-2005 01:43 PM

Dogs are pets. Cats are furniture.

Promenea 05-16-2005 02:00 PM

For the life of me I can't figure out where that dog's front legs are in that pic - did they cut them off so he'd fit?

Stonan 05-16-2005 02:44 PM

Not too sure about that Wolf...

A buddy of mine trained his dog to balance a pint of beer on his head. Don't think you could get a cat to do that....

wolf 05-16-2005 03:41 PM

Does the cat come when you call it? Does the sofa?

capnhowdy 05-16-2005 04:40 PM

Dogs never stop loving, regardless.
Cats never stop hating, regardless.
Hell, the dog even loves the damn cat even tho he stole his bed. The cat would hate the dog if he gave him his bed AND his food.
Bumper sticker on my old truck: I love cats......they taste like chicken.

My cats come when I call them...if by 'calling them' you mean opening a can of any sort. Works every time!

:apaw:

Hey, welcome to the Cellar, johningerslev. I'm not getting any either.

BigV...I never get tired of the bally/yarny routines.

dasviper 05-17-2005 12:05 AM

A buddy of mine's family has a dog and a cat. They got an igloo-type doghouse for the dog, which the cat promptly annexed. The dog shivered on the porch.

So they got a second igloo. The cat moved to the newer, cleaner one, and sublet the original one to a neighborhood stray cat. The dog shivered on the porch.

They got a third. The cat moved again, the stray moved to igloo #2, and the poor dog got a third-hand cat-stinking igloo.

floki 05-17-2005 12:32 AM

A dog has owners, a cat has staff. :)

staceyv 05-17-2005 07:52 AM

I love cats. I feel like I have some cat genes in me. In my next life, I want to be a cat.
I developed an allergy to cats while I worked at the vet.

Now I feel depressed...

And why can't I find an IOTD for May 15th? hmmmm?

Undertoad 05-17-2005 08:07 AM

I'm shootin' for one IotD on the weekends these days.

Wouldn't that make it an IotW?

LabRat 05-17-2005 11:32 AM

What, since you got a new woman, and are all happy and in love and stuff, we are last weeks news? No new fields of 64, now a slipping IotD, then what? Oh, the insensitivity... :bawling:

Undertoad 05-17-2005 11:35 AM

What?! My woman is totally satisfied and then I developed that field of 64 administration tool, and nobody wants to put it to use!

LabRat 05-17-2005 11:44 AM

Too complicated for our little minds :)

The previous post was supposed to be sarcastic, i'd much rather have a happy UT than a hoppin' Cellar!!

Tell you what. PM me and I'll give it a try. If it's too much hassle we can always never try again

glatt 05-17-2005 01:09 PM

Yeah! Silent! You rock.

poohbearbeth 05-17-2005 04:06 PM

this email i recieved titled "komisch" looks like a human and dog have been living together

wolf 05-18-2005 10:49 PM

That made a somewhat disturbing appearance on the WTF thread.

Apparently it's part of a sculptural series.

Sun_Sparkz 05-19-2005 12:35 AM

But Of Course!!

i should have known the wierdsest things in the world couldn't slip past the cellar!! ;)

That is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen--especially their little butt cheeks with tails....

Promenea 05-19-2005 10:07 AM

I don't think that sculpture is people/dog chimeras but is meant to be people pig mixes. This is because there is a big push to humanize the pig genome so that pigs will make better organ donors for transplant for humans. The sculpture is simply commentary on that.

York 05-22-2005 02:50 AM

Hheeyyy Geezers and geezeresses, my cats do come when we call them! And by the name that is! My biggest one even does the "sitting" and "laying down" part! Just saw a clip on the net of a small cat and a crow living together!

xoxoxoBruce 05-22-2005 01:33 PM

Sure, the Big One hears York's voice, says "there's the food machine" and comes sauntering.
York say's, "sit".
Big One says, "Crap, it's gonna be a while. Might as well sit down and be comfortable."
York says, "lay down".
Big One says, "Uh oh, it's worse than I thought, better lie down and take a nap until the food machine reboots."

York 05-22-2005 03:23 PM

that could be so poosible!
