Analyze the Weird Dream Above / Post Yours

Ice Cube and I are at an historical re-enactment. One re-enactor, a black man in Inuit clothing, is yelling about how this ancient ceremony was broadcast on the radio. I rationalize this commentary by recalling that for many cultures time really is relative so I guess it could be true.

Have at.

Your secret dream is to be a member of the Black Eyed Peas so you can lick Fergie's ankles.

I dreamt I was boxing with my best friend's sixteen year old son, and my two year old was the referee. She kept yelling "Beat him Mommy! Hit him!"

Silent 08-26-2005 01:41 PM

You secretly have the hots for your friends son. However, you know that it would be wrong to act on these secret lusts and that only a two year old wouldn't know any better.

I dreamt my house developed a leak in the roof around the bathroom vent pipe. Torrents of water were rushing in and out of the ceiling in the kitchen (doing remarkably little damage) while all my friends were in the living room watching soccer.

You are worried that your penis is going to fall off when it gets numb from too much bike riding and therefore your wife will leave you.

I dreamed I barged down the nile in my maidenform bra...

I had a dream that I was on an elevator to heaven. But it wasn't a normal elevator. It was like those elevators on the outside of buildings, but it wasn't in a cage and it had no walls. It was just a small platform going up and I was on the edge of it. There were lots of other people and they were kind of shoving, and the elevator was going up and up and up for a really long time. Then, right before I was about to fall off, the elevator made it to the top and I woke up as I was getting off the elevator.

I was disturbed by this dream because I don't believe in heaven. I'm an atheist.

Clodfobble 08-26-2005 10:52 PM

Your dream is a message from God.

I don't remember mine from last night, but my husband told me his when he woke up this morning: He and Jon Stewart had to kill this retarded boy. My husband was really uncomfortable with the idea, but Jon Stewart made him. Ultimately, my husband did most of the attacking and he got all pissed at Jon Stewart afterwards for making him do his dirty work.

wolf 08-26-2005 11:59 PM

Your husband hates his boss, and feels that a loud-mouthed coworker has been goading him into confronting the boss when he really doesn't want to.

I have this recurring dream about frankfurters chasing bagels around the Empire State Building. I have never been to the Empire State Building.

zippyt 08-27-2005 12:39 AM

Oh Wolf , DON'T make me say that you NEED to get SOME !!!! Shit how Phalic can a dream be !!!!!!!

Hers is a serial re-acuring dream i used to have , its been a while but the cave dudes still apear ever now and then.

Dream 1 , a DC comics caveman is floating in space clutching onto an I beam , suddenly there is a flash in the distance , he starts moveing in that direction , soon you see other DC comics cavemen with simmaler materials going in the same direction , they all converge and start putting I beames togather untill they form a rough sefl supporting globe , other dudes appear with clods of dirt, they form this over the steel and form a world , air and water are in the dirt

Dream 2 , they all live on this world in harminy , unitill one tribe gets more advanced than the other , then WAR , WAR esclates to the point of nukes,

Dream 3 , Nukes blow the world to pieces with DC comics cave dudes clinging onto the pieces ,

They all float in space untill there is another FLASH !!!
Then they do it all over again .

Wrap your heads around THAT one !!!!!!!

wolf 08-27-2005 12:49 AM

Karma is cyclical. Things occur over and over again, sometimes in the same way, sometimes we learn from the lessons.

(I don't actually dream, or at least recall dreams with any consistency. I had to make something up. When I do have dreams I remember it's usually really intense stuff, like the time 6 months before Challenger when I had a nightmare that the space shuttle with the teacher on it had exploded ... I had to call a friend to check to see if the mission had flown yet. At that point, it hadn't.)

Okay, I did have this one actual dream, sometime in the mid-80s (not too long after the above Challenger dream so I was pretty freaked out), in which a nuclear sub launched it's missles from the Schuylkill River.

zippyt 08-27-2005 01:50 AM

End game , I think

Ok here is another weird dream , always around christmas eve ,
I am walking on a frozen lake , typical rockwell chritmas scene in the back ground , snow , ice , frost , with a house in the back ground , smoke comeing out of the chimeny , etc,,,,

I hear a sound below my feet , and i clear away the snow , I see my self looking back at my self thru the ice , but the other self is looking over the side of a moter boat and it is summer ,,, i have dreamnt that i broke thru the ice and we switched places , classic Chris craft motor boat slinking across the lake with a summer view of the SAME house !!!

Ok what do you make of this dream ????

Clodfobble 08-27-2005 12:36 PM

You hate the winter. A lot.

Last night my dream was this: My husband and I were in a group of around ten people, who were all "friends" in the dream but whom I didn't recognize, and we were in an Asian country with a sizeable rural population--sometimes it was China, sometimes it was North Korea. A black man in our group was arrested by the military under some false pretenses, but we all knew it was really because he was black. In protest, we egged the main plaza, and some government agents chased us until we reached "Paddy O'Shaughnessy's," a building which was both a bar and the Irish embassy. We ran in and all claimed various smidgens of Irish ancestry and were thus saved from the Asian military folks.

mrnoodle 08-29-2005 10:48 AM

Prophecy that the Chinese are going to invade. But everyone knew that anyway.

I, my sister, her 2 kids and my dad are in a big garage/metal barn. Dad goes back to the house (this is our barn, but I don't recognize it). We are apparently keeping lions, because it's my job to feed the cubs. They are all wandering out in the pasture, and you can hear them and see flashes of fur in the grass, but you never see them fully. The deal is, when you get out the metal feeding dishes, the cubs come to the door. I have to get the cubs inside and shut the door to feed them before the mama lions come (the adult lions aren't tame, only the cubs). As soon as i touch the dishes, the clock is ticking. Cubs running inside, doors closed for safety. And I'm behind a bunch of equipment -- it's a dirty garage/barn. Well, I've got the cubs inside and feeding, when I realize one of my nephews has left one of the doors open. I can hear a mama lion through the wall, snuffling along the base of the building for her cub.

Then it turns into a chasing dream. Sister and kids are on the way to the house, but the mama lion is too close -- they should be inside the barn until feeding time is over. I'm torn between getting them back in the barn, just shutting the door, and trying to find a gun to deal with the mama lion. Plus I'm all embarrassed and disappointed because my dad left me in charge of the lions and now someone's gonna get killed.

The dream jumped ahead to me trying to stuff cubs under the garage door to let them out, while dodging the swiping paws coming underneath from the mamas. I assume my family lived

You feel your life is spinning out of control, no matter how hard you try, and you are disappointing your loved ones. Or you have a meth lab that has you worried.

____________________________________________________

I am hiding from gunmen in a walkin refrigerator. I cant shut the door because I'll be locked in/suffocate, but I have to shut it far enough to turn off the light and be hidden. The whole dream is my panic futility messing with the door. I'm never caught or saved.

zippyt 09-11-2005 09:16 PM

Here is a weird one that I had the other night ,

I am heading out on a long journey in my camping truck ,
A friends wife desided she wants to go as well ,
My wife and her husband deside she will take her own car ,
So off we go , its a long ride , all is going well untill,,,
I take a wrong turn , then another , and things get Real weird and confusing , flashing lites , tunnels , ( all with the sound track from the wiz of oz , when dorthy is in the house and it is getting cyclomed ) , more flashing lights and tunnels , and wrecks , and weird off ramps , I look up in my rear view mirror and she is gone ( the friends wife ) I don't worry to much because she is a tough girl and she can hold her own , then i notice that as I was looking in the rear view mirror i have passed my turn off , more wierd lights and off ramps , My Head is spinning by now , so i get off the road at an off ramp , find this WEIRD dive hotel , all the rooms open into this central court ,
when i wake up in the morning I hear this comotion out in the court yard , the court yard is FULL of folks milling about , but the crowd parts as this procesion of folks that , well ,,, you can tell from a distance that these folks just AIN'T Right in the head stroll by in a line , they have on weird costumes , flags and banners in this weird language there is a band following this procession playing VERRRRRRY strange'ly , and then i notice that EVERY body looks a bit odd , as the procession is passing i hear verry faintly " Crasy Crasy Crasy !!!"
I watch this all for a while and the procession is passing again i hear " Crasy Crasy Crasy !!!" again , so I look out side my door and there sits 3 little black girls dressed normaly , they are sitting there saying " crasy crasy crasy !!"

One of them turns and looks at me , I wake up .

This was ALL verry Fillini-esk .

wolf 09-11-2005 09:20 PM

Sounds like you need a little time off work, Zip.

You're right about Fellini, of course, but I hadn't realized that you were so broadly experienced in the ways of foreign films.

Felini with a pinch of ABC network Wife Swap reality show and a twist of evacuation road trip and little kids in the Astrodome coverage.

OnyxCougar 09-13-2005 09:35 AM

Too much CNN.

Oddly, this dream was several weeks ago, and I told my husband about it, then NO flooded.....

I'm in this relatively small city, in podunk middle america. Typical old farts club sitting on the corner, reminiscing about the war. My husband's dad is there (I've never met him but seen pictures) with his war buddies, one of which is the mayor.

A flood warning is issued, and dad starts building a raft on our porch on main street. It's a big raft, and can hold the whole family and some stuff. Has a little cover and everything. He tells all his buddies the flood is coming but they dont listen.

Cut to a wall of water in the distance as you look down the middle of main st, but it dissipates by the time it gets to us, and ali we really see is water rising very quickly. Across the street from us, a whirlpool opens up and other people who may have been in canoes are sucked in. We run our raft down around the porch to the other side and launch it, with all aboard.

Cut to a few days later, the water is finally subsiding, and some of the townsfolk are dead, including the mayor.

Cut to a parade down main street, kind of like a state ceremony type thing, and as the mayor's coffin rolls by, dad raises his hand and shakes his fist at the mayor, yelling "Dammit you stupid ass! I told you to build a raft!"

My husband thought it was funny because his dad would never shake his fist at a dead mayor. And I hadn't really thought about it until just now, but that's eerily a wierd premonition-type dream. *shivers*

lheene 09-13-2005 09:16 PM

Hmmmm water usually means life. A lot of water means a torrent of change. As for the dead mayor it can symbolize an old way of rulling your life--ie., your paradigm.

Prediction: A new job in 6 months. Some marital dischord which leads to stronger bonds with each other. Possibly a leadership type job. Plus some pleasant news from in-laws type relatives.

NovemberRain 09-13-2005 11:36 PM

Here's one I have somewhat frequently. I'm falling down a gentle incline but never hit the ground due to an apparent reduction in gravitational pull. The net effect is one of drifting along for quite some distance about six inches from the ground.

Happy Monkey 09-14-2005 06:07 AM

I have that one ocasionally, too.

I like it when I dream I can fly. Those dreams are few and far between, but when they come--I really enjoy them! I fly around as much as I can!

plthijinx 09-14-2005 08:55 AM

you don't just have to dream about it! go to your local small airport and take a discovery flight at the flight school. flying is the easy part, learning the regs and crap is what sucks!

Undertoad 09-14-2005 10:33 AM

What sucks is the payment! And learning that the FAA won't let you fly anyway because you take meds for anxiety.

wolf 09-14-2005 10:34 AM

Or have too thick of a prescription.

Clodfobble 09-14-2005 08:57 PM

Now that's just silly. Everyone knows American citizens aren't allowed to fly. They might be terrorists! :worried:

marichiko 09-14-2005 10:20 PM

Well, here's a dream that has bothered me:

In the dream I have an aquarium filled with rows of beautiful golden fish. I know that everybody keeps fish like this, so my having row after row of fish in the aquarium is nothing unusual. The problem comes when I part a row to check on the condition of the individual fish. While the fish on the outside are beautiful and healthy, the ones on the inside of the rows are sick and dying. I frantically do everything I can think of to take care of them - give them extra fish food, aerate the water more, but nothing I do in the dream helps those fish.

Yikes!

Do I have a horrible disease I don't know about yet? :mg:

wolf 09-14-2005 10:53 PM

No, just a relationship with an axe murderer (beautiful on the outside, sick/rotten on the inside).

Given the way that most people drive, having to deal with only two dimensions, I get very, very frightened when I think about people flying. Especially if they are from New Jersey or Maryland.

I suspect you are right, Wolf. I have had that dream more than once, and I started having it right at the very end when I was in effect sticking my fingers in my ears and singing "lalalalala" to shut out the truth. I haven't had it recently. My subconscious was probably screaming at me, "Houstan, we have a problem!" ;)

wolf 09-15-2005 01:11 PM

Your subconscious can't spell? Interesting dream interpretation.

Could be representation of your axe murderer, or could be raging self doubt on your part. Works both ways.

staceyv 09-15-2005 01:45 PM

I recently had a dream that I was having brain surgery, but I had no confidence in the doctor. The nurses kept second-guessing him and frowning and I was hoping they'd stop him from doing anything too stupid that would kill me. When I sat up and bent forward, there were spots of blood dripping all over the white sheet and I realized he had already started, but for some reason, I wasn't knocked out all the way...

plthijinx 09-15-2005 02:08 PM

ew! that's just plain freaky!
i once dreamt that i was in a gun fight and when i popped around the corner to shoot the bad guy was right there and he shot me in the forehead and i woke up right away and the back of my head was numb! come to think of it, i've had that dream more than once when i was a teen.

undone 09-15-2005 02:28 PM

I have this one where I am chewing gum and the gum gets stickier and sticker and bigger. It starts sticking to my teeth so I start to pull it out of my mouth. I pull and pull-like on a rope and it still keeps coming out. It starts to pull on my teeth like it is going to yank them out of my head. It hurts and I am completely freaking out at the thought of losing my teeth.

Nah, my subconscious is a lousey speller. That's why it communicates with me in images.

(I knew I didn't spell that right, but I was too lazy to lok it up. Actually, my subconscious was too lazy. I - I am innosent!) :D

I have a recurring dream where the theme is I DESPERATELY need to contact someone via phone and I keep misdialing, no matter how many times I try! I never, never get the number right! it is sooooooo frustrating. so. Whazit mean?

glatt 09-16-2005 03:17 PM

No shit, I had a dream last night that I was back in college, and we were having a history exam. I hadn't done the reading for it, even though I knew we had an exam that day. I didn't even recognize any of the names of the historical figures in the question, let alone know what the answer was. The professor had written the question on scrap paper he had torn from a magazine, and he had given a different question to each student, because he thought some of us were cheaters. I think he though I was a cheater! I didn't realize until the time had run out that I had more than one page to my test, because the scrap magazine pages had stuck together a little bit when he tore them out. I didn't answer any of the questions.

What an original dream, huh? Nobody's ever had a dream about taking a test and not being prepared. What's it mean?

Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

staceyv 09-17-2005 07:25 AM

it says to analyze the dream before yours, and I get "ew! that's just plain freaky!"

Thanks for the insight!!

I had another one last night. Arsen and I were driving down the highway, the road was cut off in the middle and we drove right into the ocean.
I kept swimming towards the sunlight and finally made it out and was able to breath. (Arsen made it out before me because I was trying to see if I could just float up and save my breath, but I realized after a few seconds that I needed to swim up!)

Then it all turned out that we were at my boss's house and it was her fault for leaving a door open that led onto the cut-off ramp. I asked her why she didn't have a stop sign there? She said "Oh yeah, I guess I should" So I was thinking of suing her.

About Brianna's dream, I have frustrating dreams like that too- I try to run away from something but my legs don't work and I'm going in super-slow motion.
Maybe it means you have a goal you want to achieve but you keep hitting roadblocks and feel that it's hopeless? Yet, in reality, it's actually something very simple that you CAN do.

The test dream? I guess you're unprepared for something important in your life. That'll be $99.95.

mrnoodle 11-07-2005 10:30 AM

Had a really really vivid one last night:

I was house shopping. I was apparently in talks with a professionally dressed, about 45-year-old woman. The rooms of this house were all white, but in a cloying, meringue-like way. Not sterile, but marshmallowy. Foofy bedcovers, white drapery covering the walls. The place has a wrongness to it, a sense that bad things happened here. You can feel ghosts everywhere.

So, I walk into the hallway to find the woman and tell her I'm not interested. Turns out this isn't really a "house" in the traditional sense, but the ground floor of what used to be a hospital/nursing home. The decor is dark and 70s in the hallway, which is kind of a wide, lobbylike affair. Dark brick floor that is polished from age and numerous moppings, fake wood panels for the walls. What dim light there is comes from recessed bulbs in the ceiling, their covers browned with nicotine from the days when you could smoke everywhere.

The place smells like the hallway of a school when it's abandoned during the summer.

Now I realize why the place has ghosts, but I'm still not sure why the rooms are all weird and white, or why the owner is trying to hide the fact that it's an old hospital. She's very nice, but doesn't offer explanation. No one is threatening in any way, but when I look back towards the rooms I came from, I'm filled with dread. I know that if I go back, I'll regret it forever. I make it out to my car and get in before I wake up.

Trilby 11-07-2005 10:56 AM

Noodle--I've heard that when you dream of houses it's a representation of your subconscious. Why is your subconscious such a scary place? You're avoiding something... :ghost:

edit after a little research:
the water signifies some sort of emotional cleansing. ask yourself about your current feelings.
the lawsuit signifies that you are looking for credibility. Professional identity. Looking for power and recognition. perhaps from your boss, and you don't feel like she's giving you the credit you deserve.

wolf 11-07-2005 08:27 PM

Noodle ... have you been in one of those life reassessment phases? Looking at where you've been, what you've done, what you've accomplished, and what you've fucked up? Are you at all wondering if your current measure of either success (or aggregate goodness) is just kind of a surface thing, and the real you is kind of careworn?

mrnoodle 11-08-2005 09:09 AM

yeah, but I've been doing that for awhile now. It hasn't manifested itself in dreams before, if that's what it is. Don't have time to go through it all now, but definitely a time of path-choosing and thinking about stuff I could've done differently. For example -- if the band thing takes off (we've got a couple of pretty good gigs coming up, with a slim chance of getting a bit of recognition and maybe even touring IF we can sort out our personnel stuff), should I take the full time editing job that's going to be offered next month?

Yes, I know I don't edit my forum posts very well. But I could if i wanted to.

Relationship ghosts are floating around lately, too.

That means good food. Lots of bits and pieces...lots of goodies, jewels. Minute bad things: habits, smokes...Grande bad things: snorts, licks...habits. We all know habits.

Lots of mascara, spritz, red lipstick.

Filthy orange silks. Gold bangles.
