Are you a thread killer?

wondering who here sees themselves as a thread killer.

does it seem that everytime you post to a thread, it just kind of stops?

does it seem that people don't respond to what you say?

Do you think people skip over your posts?

Sun_Sparkz 01-23-2006 12:14 AM

Yes. I have a barrier here of age, culture, location, how much time i can and often views. I have 100's of posts but dont think i would be half as read as someone with maybe 200 or 300 posts, but i dont care - i like it here.

I wouldnt consider myself a thread killer, but i wouldnt say that my threads or comments are anything huge ... YET!! Mwahahaha

Sun_Sparkz 01-23-2006 04:32 AM

lock me up

i killed it!

Undertoad 01-23-2006 08:22 AM

Now that we've located the thread killer, can we hire you to post in Word Association? :p

SteveDallas 01-23-2006 09:13 AM

A quick search shows that I've started 172 threads, and 22, or 12.8% of them, received 0 or 1 replies.

Out of the last 500 threads that I've posted to, 35 or 7% are ones where I made the last post.

Conclusion: I don't kill a lot of threads, but I can do it when I feel like it. :rattat:

Pie 01-23-2006 09:21 AM

I shot the sheriff, but I did not kill the deputy.
I touch them, they die.

- Pie (waiting for this one to die a horrible, untimely death)

wolf 01-23-2006 10:31 AM

I don't think I've ever had the last word, even if I try ...

glatt 01-23-2006 10:42 AM

Like now?

wolf 01-23-2006 10:49 AM

Pretty much.

mrnoodle 01-23-2006 11:41 AM

At least you got it this time.

Elspode 01-23-2006 01:01 PM

I'm the Grim Reaper of Threads. Most of what I say either dies on the vine, or sends people screaming. Not all, but most. I think I'm guilty of blathering.

chimmichunga 01-23-2006 02:11 PM

Thread killer extrordinaire. I hope you all said what you needed to say, cause after this no one will see it.

Trilby 01-23-2006 02:19 PM

Oh, that's not true, chimmi! (if I may call you chimmi?) '
I kill everything I touch.

You can, but it won't help. Better get the money back guarantee!

:p

Sun_Sparkz 01-23-2006 04:58 PM

jeesus BigV.. Settle down boi!

footfootfoot 01-23-2006 05:54 PM

I prefer to maim them so they can't run away. Then I toy with them a while until I get overexcited and accidentally bite their heads too hard.

wolf 01-24-2006 01:41 AM

Sometimes at 3AM the Word Association thread is the only one that's getting business ...

marichiko 01-24-2006 09:04 PM

Well, of the 25 most recent threads I've posted to, I didn't start any of them and in two, mine has been the last post. Going by that sample, I am obviously dangerous to the health of a thread. 8% of all threads infected by me sicken and die. I imagine no one will post to this one ever again. Ever. :dead3:

People with nothing to say but want to post anyway......or run up their post count.

BULLSHIT :headshake

lookout123 01-24-2006 11:14 PM

that is sad. i don't think i've posted to the word association thread in months, and i am still the second wordiest.

lumberjim 01-25-2006 02:04 AM

you know what's gonna suck? in like two or three weeks, when this thread has died off for a while, I'm gonna bring it back, and make fun of the person that killed it. even if it's me. i cant wait

glatt 01-25-2006 11:04 AM

I know you have like a 2 hour commute to that job of yours LJ, but isn't 3AM a little early to be starting the day?

Or were you getting up in the night for a pee and a drink of water, and just thought you would check to see if Wolf is pulling a graveyard shift?

Chimmi is fine by me. I'm just glad I am not the only death bringer.

I've come by my post count honestly ... (word assoc part deux only accounts for 4.875% of my posts)

that is actually a pretty large slice, considering the age of the thread, and your tenure here.

it's a guilty pleasure at best

capnhowdy 01-25-2006 04:48 PM

Thread Killer?

Remember threads have feelings too. They feel pain.

Pie 01-25-2006 05:16 PM

Hah! See? Everyone ignored my post. It's true, I tell you!!
It's hard, being a pie. Typing is quite a challange, f'rinstance.

Undertoad 01-25-2006 05:19 PM

See, I read that, but I don't know what to say in return. Maybe some of the perceived thread-killing is just making a definitive statement that doesn't require any response!

lumberjim 01-25-2006 05:27 PM

yeah, if you don;t give them anything to argue about......or piss them off ......

i'm not a thread killer, btw......coincedence?

marichiko 01-25-2006 05:48 PM

No, Lj, its more because you haven't been posting so often as of late. However, if you go back in time, a search reveals that you "killed" 6 out of 50 threads when you were a regular poster here. That gives you a an "LD50" of 12% back when you were in your cellar prime.

By the way, the word association thread accounts for only .03% of my posts. Do I win anything? Have I killed this thread yet? :p

lumberjim 01-25-2006 05:56 PM

no, but you should eat a dick anyway.

capnhowdy 01-25-2006 05:59 PM

I thought that was "cock".

lumberjim 01-25-2006 06:04 PM

no......cock would be literal. 'eat a dick' is more of a non associative insult. like 'go fuck yourself.' you don't really picture someone fucking themself.

Gwennie! 01-25-2006 10:44 PM

I like to start threads about...

Damn, does that make me a cock teaser. At least I ain't no Hollaback Girl!

wolf 01-26-2006 01:18 PM

I have no idea what a Hollaback Girl might be.

And I'm not going to google for fear of finding out. With pictures.

Trilby 01-26-2006 02:16 PM

well, it's not like it's goatsee. I never did recover from that *shudder*

There;s a difference between killing a thread and making a post so inclusive and profound it is simply the last word on the subject and any further posts would be drivel. :right:

mrnoodle 01-27-2006 12:09 PM

Hey, how do you guys find the percentages and such? I don't know this newfangled computer stuff too good.

lumberjim 01-27-2006 12:39 PM

just make them up. most people will be too lazy to check, and just assume you;re accurate

There are more than a few threads that I've posted something completely dumb and killed that particular thread.

Hey, I'm not in denial anyway. :D

Like this one it seems.

mrnoodle 03-14-2006 11:50 AM

Nah, it's still going. I use threads like this to be a postcount whore. And you're still ahead by 10 posts or so -- I'll have to ramp it up.

FallenFairy 03-14-2006 12:32 PM

Gee, I was waiting to see what Slang won as the thread killer.

slang 03-15-2006 12:16 AM

Wasn't first prize a wedgie from LJ? I should have let you collect.

Where's MrNoodle when you need him?

skysidhe 04-09-2006 07:49 PM

I need to learn self control and ......

ummm selective ...something or other.

Shawnee123 01-26-2007 09:25 AM

This is great!

I was thinking about what a thread killer I am...so I googled the term. First thing to come up was this Cellar thread. Then I googled images hoping to find one that expresses my thread killing phobia. This is what I found:

bigw00dy 01-26-2007 09:31 AM

I feel as though i am a thread killer........
..
..
..
Now, I will wait and see.....

Waiting.....

Shawnee123 01-26-2007 09:36 AM

Oh woody woody woody. You don't know from thread killing! I am the freaking thread killer extraordinaire. I am the grand poobah of thread killing. When a thread sees me coming, it automatically rolls over and dies on the spot. My threads killed Chuck Norris.

xoxoxoBruce 01-26-2007 10:15 AM

It only seems that way because you give the ultimate answer to every question, solve every problem and then there's no reason to pursue it further.:D

Shawnee123 01-26-2007 10:18 AM

Ahhh, that explains why I stay out of threads that require a modicum of intelligence and education. ;)

yesman065 01-26-2007 11:00 AM

You have a lot of great input Shawnee - what are you talking about??? I AM the real thread killer.

Shawnee123 01-26-2007 11:18 AM

Let's duke it out, yesman. :)

monster 01-26-2007 11:34 AM

Which is worse: a thread-killer or a thread ressurector? :p
