Pittsburgh Weekend

My belated birthday present from my beloved were great seats at PPG Arena for a Penguin's game! We drove across the state, wandered the city, celebrated a great game with the Yinzers, and ate the local chow. Nice!

They won, you won, Pete won, great weekend!

They had lost two OT games in a row so they came out hard!

Yeah, we went up the Duquesne Incline, the old one from 1877. That was neat. I took some video of the machinery but I don't know if it actually captures it.

Gravdigr 11-24-2019 11:57 AM

Sounds like a good time was had.

xoxoxoBruce 11-24-2019 11:59 PM

Pittsburgh cleans up real purty.

Griff 11-25-2019 06:12 AM

Yeah nice one in a nice town. We even got Yinzed a couple times.

lumberjim 11-25-2019 12:04 PM

Did you have a Schmidter?

:D

lumberjim 11-25-2019 03:25 PM

Actually, after a bit of googling... I meant a Primaris kitchen sink sandwich. Dunno why I thought it was called schmitter.

Griff 11-25-2019 05:24 PM

I had the corned beef and cheese. It had the coleslaw and fries on it, was really good and was entirely too much food. I ate 3/4 quarters of the thing. Quality ingredients, good stuff, but requires a bigger man than me.

bbro 12-01-2019 03:54 PM

All of the sandwiches have coleslaw and fries. Only the suburban locations will allow you to get the sandwich without those ingredients. I love the kielbasa. If you love the bread, it's made down the street from the original location (in the strip district) at a place called Mancini's. They have good bread, period.

Too bad I didn't see this earlier! That's my hometown :)

Re: Walking.

Yeesh!

sexobon 12-17-2019 12:29 AM

I've gone up and down those streets by motorcycle. The traffic makes it a tad different from riding mountains.

Diaphone Jim 12-17-2019 03:32 PM

Tough on clutches!

xoxoxoBruce 12-17-2019 10:18 PM

And on brakes.

Griff 12-18-2019 06:04 AM

or pedestrians

Gravdigr 12-18-2019 03:01 PM

Well, to be fair, most of San Fran's pedestrians are a certain kind of pedestrian.

You know...Hipsters.

Hipsters don't count.

Griff 12-18-2019 07:19 PM

Their leather shoes make a nice braking surface.

Gravdigr 12-18-2019 08:57 PM

Yebbut, by the time you've paid the wranglers, ya coulda just bought brake shoes.

xoxoxoBruce 12-18-2019 11:11 PM

The right wingers wear Wranglers, the left wingers wear Levis.

Griff 12-19-2019 06:36 AM

Do hipsters wear jeans? If they did I think they'd wear made in USA like Dearborn or something one off.

Does the Pope shit in the woods?! Hells yes they wear jeans! $200 skinny, pre-mudded jobbers!!

Griff 12-23-2019 06:20 AM

I could distress jeans for a living. I've got a ripped and faded pair of wranglers that have reached peak comfort. Any bids?

xoxoxoBruce 12-23-2019 07:51 AM

Do you have a second pair for my other leg?

If you're from Pittsburgh you're from the other side of the tracks no matter what neighborhood. From the air Pittsburgh looks like a city perched o a cobweb. Charlotte's City!!

Griff 09-14-2020 06:15 AM

What does this have to do with hipsters? ;)
