Cynicity

is it cynical to think this man would have been paroled years ago had his victim not been famous? Not least to save the state money. They didn't claim it was for his own protection. Was the judge just scared of public backlash?

I agree. He's already served more than the minimum term on his sentence, unless he's been poorly behaved in prison they would have let him out long ago. I mean he's white, fer Chrissakes.

I was thinking the same thing after reading he'd been refused parole again, now I don't know how Chapman is mentally but would he still be in jail 33 odd years later if the man he shot was a plumber rather that a music icon?
I doubt he'll ever get out, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing I don't know I'm not informed enough to make a judgement call on it, however it seems the odds of parole are stacked against you the more famous your victim was

It was a high-profile crime. Like it, or, not...fair, or, not...high-profile crimes have always been punished more severely.

Also, the guy is bug-fucking nuts.
