Yea, he sort of lost his head over the whole encounter.

They're beautiful Merc!
So, how many are dangerous?
I love the red one especially (the same one used in your Hillary pic?)

PS, BigV - loved the photo but don't do it again.
Your life and the lives of your loved ones are not worth putting at risk - even minimal risk! - for a photo.
Leave that to war photographers.

Only the last 4 (3 snakes) are poisonous.

Seriously? the water snake isnt poisonous? It looks like it has venom glands.

For the Scarlet, I always remember..."Red next to Black is a friend of Jack, Red next to yellow will kill a fellow". To tell the difference between the Coral and Scarlet King....which isnt particularly helpful in Australia...but you just never know when I will need this info.

Oh, and the pigmy rattlers have such cute eyes.

Yeppers, the water snake is harmless. He was about 2.5 feet long and went in a hole under my sidewalk most likely after toads or moles. We have a seasonal swamp behind the house and have seen him 2 times in the last week, he must be hungry.

All of these snakes were from my yard.

DucksNuts 05-05-2008 10:49 PM

We have no *good* snakes here, only seriously venomous bastards.

The most venomous and least aggressive is the Redbellied Black snake, and they are the ones to have around as they eat the other really nasty aggressive venomous snakes.

Oh and you got waaaay to close to them. Great Pics

I have it on good authority that this translates to
"I will find my frog"

lumberjim 05-07-2008 09:19 PM

i lol'd

Ibby 05-07-2008 11:00 PM

Actually it says something about 'dear ____-dog friend mister', translating directly.
Some sort of.. letter to... someone with a dog? Maybe something about a lost dog, i think. Or maybe just something about picking up their shit. I see something about 'dog-out-door' with a question mark, but I don't know an apparently important character in the first sentence. I can read... 'dear'-(something)-'dog'-'friend'-'mister' (or 'husband'), but then it's ripped.

complete, word-for-word dump:

dear something dog friend mister (rip) please take(?) your love dog go(?) (rip) me something door go something ? something heart (posessive character) (rip) you. (name)

...or something like that.
hah.

EDIT: yes, i do get the joke. But I need the chinese practice anyway.

This was taken from a parking lot near my old home last month. Came out of the allergist and was thrilled that I had my camera with me. I got some amazing shots.

Here is one of my windows this winter. This happens at -10f and colder. These are the c. 1850 windows. At -20f we get that only at the edges of the new double pane low E argon filled ones in the rest of the house. Hopefully, these will be replaced this summer.
