Kitchen Inspection Today!

So, today is the big day. The environmental health and safety officer is coming out to inspect my kitchen mainly, but also the rest of the house, to make sure it's up to scratch for my Home Kitchen License.

I admit that I am quite stressed inwardly. Every little spec worries me as you can imagine. The big boys are both on board though, and one of Aden's mates is here to help out too which is nice. Anyway, I think everything is right. I don't think there will be any problems. The cats are going for a little holiday this arvy when he's due here, so I think it will be ok.

So wish me luck. Hopefully by the end of the day I will have my license. If not, you'll probably hear the bitching from where ever you are in the world.

Hell, you can do this, piece of cupcake. Just make sure he doesn't find any cat hair. ;)

I dont think he will find any. I have been walking around for days cleaning out corners and things. Mav sanitised the cats run today, so it should be good. Things look pretty clean.

Good news. :) I am now legal.

I feel like I just turned 18 again, so I'm having a glass of wine to celebrate. :)

Stupid up and down wifi means my "hope it went well" wasn't sent before I read this.
But it's great news, well done.

Thanks love. :) I am very pleased. I was a bit anxious about baking all the time and not being legal. I feel much more relaxed now.

Our canteen was swabbed today. Store swab (aka internal - oo-err!) rather than an outside agency, but always nerve-wracking.

So we had a frenzy of cleaning.
We try to clean as we go, but are constantly so busy, it's easy to miss things.

Customers need to be able to rely on our hygeine being 100%, but if there are two people behind the counter and one is checking the rotisserie chickens for temperature you can bet the call will ring out, "Excuse me? Are you serving?" by the next customer to pitch up. They even get antsy if you take the time to wipe down the cheese station after serving unpasteurised cheese. As far as they're concerned they're only buying ham, so why should they wait?

Anyway we squeezed in as thorough a clean as we could despite it being constant, with what felt like occasional coach parties of customers arriving together.
Only to find the managers had to abandon their swabbing plans... because the store as so busy

So in a way it was all wasted effort because by this morning any evidence of our frenzy will be negated.

Haha..thats a bit like what happened here. I had the boys and one of their mates working like dogs all morning till the whole house was sparkling. In the end, he didnt go past the kitchen. lol. Just checked it. We chatted for a while, he said its all fine and heres your license, then left.
