Mind your own business...

Words and music by Hank Williams, Sr.
If the [D] wife and I are fussin', brother that's our right
'Cause me and that sweet woman's got a license to fight [D7]
Why don't you [G7] mind your own business
(Mind [D] your own business)
'Cause if you mind [A7] your business, then you won't be mindin' [D] mine.
Oh, the woman on our party line's the nosiest thing
She picks up her receiver when she knows it's my ring
Why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
Well, if you mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.
I got a little gal that wears her hair up high,
the boys all whistle when she walks by.
why don't you mind your own buisness
(Mind your own business)
Well, if you mind your own business, you sure won't be minding mine.
If I want to honky tonk around 'til two or three
Now, brother that's my headache, don't you worry 'bout me.
Just mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
If you mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.
Mindin' other people's business seems to be high-toned
I got all that I can do just to mind my own
Why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
If you mind your own business, you'll stay busy all the time.

yeah, he didn't sing any of those words there....

This is so relaxing.
I've been listening all day long in my office, and all night on very low volume while I'm sleeping.

Unlike other lofi auto-plays, this one stays on character and never plays something outside of a mellow range-- slightly relaxing/ slightly energetic. No piano music, classical guitar, hip-hop with vocals, just lofi.

OK good call UT, they are on Colbert Friday. :p::cool::p:
Vulfpeck has always been about unusual promotion and unusual videotaping. So here is a complete show at Madison Square Garden, for free on YouTube, filmed with one wandering camera on stage, continuously shooting for the entire hour 44 minutes.

I wish it was high res. but the music is high res.

Lots of Americans have heard the Tracey Ullman version of this song, but only our Brits have heard the original, from the late great great great great Kirsty MacColl. She was only 16 when she wrote this song.

I love the high pitched "baby!" at the end of the bridge. I read that Tracey Ullman could not reach that note, and the "baby!" on her version was only reached through studio trickery - which in 1983 meant she recorded a "baby!" at a lower pitch, separately, and they sped it up and stuck it into the middle there. That's what they had to do, before autotune.

MacColl married a guy named Steve Lillywhite. I wonder how much harassment and grief that name brought him.

Undertoad 12-14-2019 11:36 PM

He survived it well because he became one of the greatest record producers of all tiiiiime

He produced the first three U2 albums

He produced Peter Gabriel "3" and developed (along with Phil Collins) the drum sound that would represent the entire 80s

He helped kicked off the careers of Psychedelic Furs, XTC, Ultravox, Pogues, Thompson Twins, Simple Minds, Big Country

Did later work with the Stones

Tolerated Morrissey for parts of his solo career

More recently Dave Matthews

And he made some great records with Kirsty. In which she does, like 6-part harmony in places, it's quite good stuff

Undertoad 12-14-2019 11:47 PM

Sorry, I went off... but... he really is quite good at making records

xoxoxoBruce 12-15-2019 01:23 AM

No problem, he's had a great career, made major money, probably got some impressive autographs. ;)
Plus if that wasn't enough he looks like a damn male model.

I guess it's true, with a name like Smuckers Lilywhite you've got to be good.

Love that cut Toad.

I just have to add that Kirtsy's voice is amazing.

xoxoxoBruce 12-15-2019 02:09 PM

I'm going to hell for this video...

Gravdigr 12-20-2019 08:56 AM

I'm not sure I know what that was...

Gravdigr 12-20-2019 08:58 AM

Aaanywho...

I been likin dis lately:

White House Road

Early in the morning when the sun does rise
Layin' in the bed with bloodshot eyes
Late in the evenin' when the sun sinks low
Well that's about time my rooster crows
I got women up and down this creek
And they keep me going and my engine clean
Run me ragged but I don't fret
'Cause there ain't been one slow me down none yet
Get me drinking' that moonshine
Get me higher than the grocery bill
Take my troubles to the highwall
Throw'em in the river and get your fill
We been sniffing that cocaine
Ain't nothin' better when the wind cuts cold
Lord it's a mighty hard livin'
But a damn good feelin' to run these roads
I got people try to tell me, Red
Keep this livin' and you'll wind up dead
Cast your troubles on the Lord of Lord's
Or wind up laying on a coolin' board
But I got buddies up White House Road
And they keep me strutting when my feet hang low
Rotgut whiskey gonna ease my pain
And all this running's gonna keep me sane
Get me drinkin' that moonshine
Get me higher than the grocery bill
Take my troubles to the highwall
Throw'em in the river and get your fill
We been sniffing that cocaine
Ain't nothin' better when the wind cuts cold
Lord it's a mighty hard livin'
But a damn good feelin' to run these roads
It's a damn good feelin' to run these roads
When you lay me in the cold hard clay
Won't ya sing them hymns while the banjo plays
You can tell them ladies that they ought not frown
'Cause there ain't been nothing ever held me down
Lawmen, women or a shallow grave
Same ol' blues just a different day
Get me drinking' that moonshine
Get me higher than the grocery bill
Take my troubles to the highwall
Throw'em in the river and get your fill
We been sniffing that cocaine
Ain't nothin' better when the wind cuts cold
Lord it's a mighty hard livin'
But a damn good feelin' to run these roads
It's a damn good feelin' to run these roads
It's a damn good feelin' to run these roads
