I'm lost, are the first two pictures the top and bottom view of the same item?

I think the first picture is he final thing and the second is a jump back in time to pre-completion (missing the piece in the third pic)

First is the top of the final product, second is the bottom view, but before the last piece was placed, showing the spiral on the inside. Third is the last piece.
