Generational reversal

Pew: old people get their news by TV; young people prefer to READ it

Younger adults more likely than their elders to prefer reading news

...online of course; only 10% of the youngsters claim to prefer to read their news via newspaper, than online. (Oh, those Amish.)

elSicomoro 10-12-2016 08:12 PM

Every now and then, I enjoy actually holding a paper in my hand. I grew up reading one, so I still get nostalgic for it.

glatt 10-12-2016 09:14 PM

Paper newspapers give me more information than digital does. If you haven't read a newspaper in a while, try it. You see stories you wouldn't otherwise.

With news, less is more.

Gravdigr 10-13-2016 01:45 PM

I bought a USA Today the other day for the first time in a looong time.

Two fucking bucks.

Newspapers ought to cost a nickel.

I might be getting old. I'll be yelling at the kids to get off my lawn before ya know it...:crone:

What was called a nickel back then is called dollars today.

lumberjim 10-13-2016 06:57 PM

I nickel is $5. Nobody seems to sell them anymore though.

I read newspapers in the library all the time.
As I don't have a TV showing 24 hour news, it doesn't seem old to me.
BUT.
They are unweildy and make your fingers very dirty. I love the editorials and the in-depth reporting as opposed to sound-bites, but they are inconvenient even to me, who has all the time in the world left at her disposal.

I'll miss them if they go though. I nearly wrote fold there.

Griff 10-18-2016 06:15 AM

I keep thinking I need to sort out the news better, but it is really hard on my mood which impacts real-life.

classicman 10-18-2016 12:19 PM

I'm with you Griff - I'm going dark on the newsfront. I can't take it anymore.

Best was to ignore all political nonsense before the Super Bowl. None of that stuff in Democratic and Republican parties had any relevance then. All have been long forgotten today because it was all irrelevant. Remember that in 3½ years.

classicman 10-20-2016 10:05 AM

I remember that you are irrelevant.
