7/11/2005: Christ on a chip

http://cellar.org/2005/christonachip.jpg

Ever heard the expression "Christ on a cracker!" ? Well I have, and that's why I saved this one off... a rather ordinary sighting, as they go, of Christian icons in various places.

Rosalie Lawson was about to bite into the sour cream and onion potato chip as she watched TV when she suddenly spotted the image.

"I said to myself: "Oh my goodness"," she said. "I showed it to my husband Jerry and he was pretty amazed too."

Deeply religious Mrs Lawson, 55, whose father-in-law the Very Rev. LeRoy Lawson was the first dean of St Petersburg Cathedral in their home town, is now pondering what to do with it.

"It's sitting in a jar in the kitchen while we decide," she said. "We may sell it - I'm not really sure."

Call me blind, but I can't see the resemblance. It just looks like a rotten chip to me. :3_eyes: :yum:

Looks like an airedale to me.
I'm sure it's the onion/ sour cream thingie, but ...(wanna talk about chemistry?)
"It's sitting in a jar in the kitchen while we decide," she said. "We may sell it - I'm not really sure."
Not sure, my ass. Why didn't she eat the damn thing?
I'm confident Jerry will agree...
" Let's sell this fokka before it gets too stale."
AN IMAGE I'M SURE WE'LL SEE ONE DAY SOON :
CHRIST ON TOILET PAPER...heee heee...think I had that.. ahem well..just joking.
At least nobody pissed on it.
Good image. I enjoyed it.

Is it Jesus? ... An Italian man is convinced the image of Christ appears on this oyster shell. The 38 year-old owner decided to put the shell up for sale after a woman in Florida auctioned off a grilled cheese sandwich allegedly bearing an image of the Virgin Mary to an online casino last November for $US28,000 ($37,000) / Reuters / News Limited picture

You can only see the oyster if you reply to this comment. Don't know why. What did I do wrong???

capnhowdy 07-11-2005 08:40 PM

Be careful.... "They" say oysters make you wanna.... :doit:

I can't see either image. What are these people smoking? The first one looks like a skull with long black hair. Kind of like a logo to a very heavy metal group.

Thanks for doing this. I enjoy every new image.

Leah 07-11-2005 08:42 PM

Oh Christ, maybe I should get some then. :worried:

SteveDallas 07-11-2005 09:32 PM

It looks like a figure from Kingdom of Loathing to me!

Trilby 07-11-2005 10:04 PM

Well, it's obviously Christ and for those of you can't see it--have fun in hell!
;)

Elspode 07-11-2005 10:27 PM

I think the chip looks like Jerry Garcia...

It seems that spurious deity/icon sightings can incite violence.

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - City officials have turned off a streetlight that drew more than 250 people to see a shadow that some say resembles the image of Jesus Christ.

East Chicago Police Chief Angelo Machuca called an emergency meeting Sunday to recommend the light be turned off in the interest of public safety after nearby residents complained about blocked cars and visitors congregating until 5 a.m.

Several arrests were made Friday night after a large fight broke out in the area.

"The city respects everyone's religious beliefs, but it's getting to the point now where it's almost too dangerous" to leave the light on, said Damian Rico, the city's public relations director.

People have flocked to the site since Wednesday, when a woman first claimed to see the image on the side of a tree. The image is only visible at night when the streetlight near the tree is illuminated.

Machuca said his department doesn't have the manpower to maintain regular patrols and control the crowd.

"The light will remain off until we can get some kind of solution," he said.
