Museums... is there anything they don't collect?
Up in Haines Alaska stands The Hammer Museum, dedicated to preserving the history of humanity’s first tool.

From the land of the pharaohs to the land down under, ancient to modern, two inches to twenty feet, the Hammer Museum has
something for everyone and is an experience that cannot be missed.

If Alaska is a little out of your way, the museum posts images of some of their more than 2,000 hammers on their Instagram account.

".... I'd hammer in the morrrrrrning..."

blueboy56 12-29-2016 10:01 PM

Does that mean that you should be hard-headed to live in Alaska?:)

xoxoxoBruce 12-29-2016 10:36 PM

You nailed it, now beat it. :p:

Does the museum have Mjolnir?

glatt 12-30-2016 07:15 AM

Hammers accumulate. You feel wrong throwing out the old, and they just keep showing up.

Many years ago when I still lived in Washington state, I was on welfare and required to be evaluated by either an MD or a psychiatrist every 6 months (over the course of 3 years of this, nobody ever released me to be thrown into the job application mill that was considered an employment program). When I was between homes and thus between MDs, I would go see this one psychiatrist who was semi-retired and pretty much only did evaluations. He was 85 when I saw him, and we would get distracted talking about all kinds of things, like the time John Phillip Sousa played at his college's Homecoming Dance. His name was Dr. Hammer, and in a rare turn of humor, his business sign consisted of 2 claw hammers in an X formation (one had the handle cut in half). And while he wasn't exactly a Pink Floyd fan, he was familiar with the "marching hammers" animation from The Wall and thought it was 'quite well done'.

Just watched 'The Wall' the other night.

The hammer on the far left is the only one I bought.

Three others were presents given to me brand new, and the rest just kind of accumulated.

My favourite hammer (here at Chateau Limey) is like the one that is fourth from the right, lower row ... so cute!

Cute maybe, but not very good at pulling nails. ;)

sexobon 12-30-2016 03:55 PM

Looks like glatt's ready for some tabletop croquet.

That's when I use hammer No. 2 ! Or pliers.

I see six nail pullers, but none are #2. However, I have complete faith you'll defeat that nail so soundly, it will straighten itself out. :D
