Waiting for Orders

I don't shop a lot, but when I've ordered something on-line I find myself eagerly waiting for it to arrive, checking the UPS or FedEx tracking every day to see where it is.

This weekend I ordered several items from Aerostich/RiderWearHouse, including a new electric liner (my old one is 16 years old) and glove covers so I can ride when it's 20°F but the roads are dry.

I think the waiting is almost better than the receiving.

ALMOST.
But then after a while don't you start to get the feeling that something is wrong?
And once you have that feeling don't you always find that you were right...?
And then, even when the problem is sorted out, getting the item is an anti-climax?

No?
Just me then.

I honestly am an optimist!
Just seems that for every issue-free order I have placed, it's always the problem ones I remember.

Reminds me of these two, a great show.

I save the tracking numbers and include a note for what it is ... I will sometimes have several things coming by the same shipper, and I have a need to know which one's which.

(for USPS I put the name of the item as the name of the recipient of the email so I know what it is ... doesn't help me to know it's just something from amazon, because I can have a couple of separate packages shipping at around the same time.

Years ago the ex and I ordered all of our Christmas online. We had gotten into the online thing fairly early in the game...and things weren't nearly like they are now.

It was a disaster.

These days I've had no problems...but I don't order much.

My wife's birthday is tomorrow. It's a long story, but let's just say that if you are ordering something from Boden, keep in mind that it takes almost a month for it to arrive because they ship from the UK, and are slow processing orders.

Don't assume it will be there in about a week like most other online orders.

That is probably going to require a supplemental gift of fine jewelry to complement whatever you ordered from that fine purveyor of togs ... or at the very least a floral offering.

Sundae 01-29-2009 02:43 PM

I always associated Boden with tea and coffee merchandise.
Not sure what I'm thinking of.

Oh and things take aeons to go to & from UK/ America.
Bruce's card was v late and LJ is still waiting for my contribution to the car!

UPS should be here any minute. Perhaps I'll check the porch in case they've already been and I didn't hear them.

I'm waiting on a new toy myself.... where is it!?

I've finally ordered a Leatherman. I've somehow managed to go this long without one, but I can't imagine how.

I've also ordered a Black & Decker EM100B Energy Saver Series Power Monitor and a Black & Decker TLD100 Thermal Leak Detector.

That was last Tuesday and Amazon is finally shipping today.

I order so much from Amazon that ponying up the $75 bucks for Prime Membership; i.e., free 2-day shipping, is a no-brainer.

HungLikeJesus 10-25-2010 09:44 PM

My wife has an Amazon Prime membership, so if I had asked her to place the order I would have had everything last week. But she never lets me pay her back, so I don't ask her very often.

My memory is truely awful and I will sometimes forget that I ordered something online. Today I got two books and it felt like Christmas!

Today I got a pair of Clark loafers for me and a Laurel Burch purse for my Sis's BD. Both items from ebay. They are awesome :) Shoes are scary sometimes, but most often they are right on and so much cheaper than a store. *New Items*

SG I too thought coffee press and tea when I see Boden.
