I didn't know this guy was so attractive. He also looks like a guy that would be in "lord of the rings". I always thought he would look like an old curmudgeon...guess not. Then again..this was the 80's. Thank you, youtube!! A new favorite old vid.!!

The Finnish rock band called The Leningrad Cowboys. A little while ago, they held a concert in Russia, in which - to the screaming applause of Russkie teen-agers - they got the Red Army Choir to join them on stage for a performance of "Sweet Home Alabama." In English.

No it doesn't.

Undertoad 04-06-2008 09:13 AM

If a song is pretty recently on YouTube and doesn't have as many views as its popularity would seem to warrant - it's probably something that has been and will be flagged for removal.

I ran sound tonight for *spectacular* group called The Wiyos, who perform what they lovingly refer to "Old Timey Music", including much Texas swing, vintage blues, semi-novelty tunes, and just tons of the most amazing Americana you can imagine. If you get a chance to see them, do it. Don't even think about it, just go see them. If you don't like them, send me a PM and I'll personally refund your admission. Great guys, killer musicians, wonderful stage presentation.

For those of you in the King of Prussia area of PA - The new Rolling Stones concert movie Shine a Light (Directed by Martin Scorsese) is showing at the IMAX.

Here is a clip - The quality is not ideal - it's really great on that 50 foot screen!

If you like the stones at all, I think you'll enjoy the IMAX experience

zippyt 04-20-2008 11:57 PM

Happy 420 ,

Jacquelita 04-21-2008 12:05 AM

Primus definitely kicks ass. I saw them live years ago at the Universal Amphitheater with my brother who plays Bass guitar. I made sure we got seats good enough for my little bro to watch Less Claypool's hands.

When I went skydiving the first time I got to choose 2 songs for the soundtrack over the video. One of them was a Primus song.

Operatic trained with a great sense of humour .........and she's great live.

Flint 05-11-2008 11:17 PM

Dennis Chambers playing fusion with some Japanese dudes.
You MUST SEE the sexy look he gives his bandmate, around 2:24.
I live for the moments that you have one of these looks across stage.

Spiceboy1 05-12-2008 01:11 PM

REALLY GREAT

lumberjim 05-12-2008 01:15 PM

EW...I disagree

Sundae 05-15-2008 05:19 PM

The clips are too literal, and there are far too many of them.
But the song still moves me intensely. Even if we are no longer between the wars, but living in their times.

BTW, Billy Bragg wouldn't win a Billy Bragg soundalike competition. He'd be accused of exaggeration.

lumberjim 05-15-2008 06:21 PM

You English are a warlike lot.

Sundae 05-17-2008 01:18 PM

It's from 1984, and BB is an ex-squaddie.
But (as is obvious) a socialist with a strong work ethic.

Just because I can, but because I also do believe it is good music, one of his more commercial songs. With the late great Kirsty MacColl below.

For the record Billy Bragg is straight, but at the time sexuality was a political issue in Britain because of Clause 28 . And for Brits - yes that is Phil Jupitus in the video. In his beat-poet stage.

lumberjim 05-17-2008 02:34 PM

that's damn near rickrollish.......

Sundae 05-18-2008 06:42 AM

... except that Billy Bragg has no illusions that he is cool or that he can dance, making the whole video a send-up from the start...?

Sundae 05-18-2008 01:00 PM

Sorry - you got me on a 90s trip now.

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine - just the distinctive opening beats are enough to make people of my age (and political bent) grin like a rabid dog.
Again, it's probably aged to the outside world, but the part of me that's eternally 19 thrills to it.

I know this is a lip sync...but it doesn't matter when it comes to Karen Carpenter, the angel voice. Can you believe she died because of her perception of her body? Bless her.

Sundae 05-30-2008 05:44 PM

Gotta love the Manics. Even 15 odd years on.

You can hear it in the songs. Amazing talent, but sadly miswired. I don't mean that in a dismissive way - it's the way I saw myself when I was at my worst.

Sadly, anorexia runs so deel into the psyche that body image is only the surface. Pun not intended. It's usually a control issue, but so closely aligned with image it's very difficult to address.

Anyway. What I meant to say was - she has a beautiful voice and a fantastic range.

sorry this cuts off before complete - but it's the best option for sound quality....
