I hope they stick to the story. I want to see Tyrion all shit faced. Dinklage was on SNL, and sat in with drunk uncle...v funny.
|
He's my favourite in that show, I think. Such an interesting character and damn but Dinklage holds a screen.
|
He is by far the best character in the books. Dinklage just nails it. Best character on television ever.
|
He's great in the Station Agent and Living in Oblivion, too.
|
The Station Agent! Thankyou! I was trying to think of the name of that film yesterday when I was out walking with Mum. Then forgot I'd wanted to know and never googled it.
Havent come across Living in Oblivion yet. |
Living in Oblivion was a huge cult hit with nearly everyone in the film industry. My buddies and I were all saying, "Yep, remember that time on..." "Oh God, that is SO true"
You've got to download it, you'll never find it. |
Netflix has it, though I don't know what that means about its availability in the UK. Frankly I'm stunned I'd never heard of it before, but it's in our queue now. At first I thought you were referring to the horrible low-budget movie Oblivion. I don't recommend that one though, it's just genuinely bad.

I watch GOT last night. WTF? The show is just dragging out the story. Lots of scene changes with no fucking forward motion in the plot. Getting a bit annoyed.
I've also been filling-in with Downton Abbey. I am enjoying that. I like Elizabeth McGovern. Hodor. |
George needs to stop messing around writing episodes. We need the last two books of the series!
|
Need More Dragons!

O M F G.
W T F just happened? I INTENTIONALLY did not read the books. |
The Red Wedding.

GRR Martin became over possessed and self important author after the popularity of the first three Ice and Fire books. Its too evident if you follow up the blogs or the news of related contents. Its not that his writing quality has declined. Even though he bores you to death with tapestry/food/sex descriptions in his latest "stand-still" books, the literature and writing style still never lags.
What I feel is that Martin has this title working wonders for him (and not un-deserving so), so he doesn't wanna his golden geese let go off that easily. I mean had the plot done enough is 'A Feast for Crows' and 'A Dance with Dragons', a prudent author could have rolled it up in next book. But no! Here is what Martin has to say (quoted from wiki): Quote:

So the season was just floating along, with scenes of everyone's contentment. Pretty boring, huh? Robb and what's-her-made-up-character-who-wasn't-at-the-red-wedding's name, Jon and Ygritte, Catelyn enjoying time with the Black Fish, etc. Then...
And next week it the season finale.... |
George r r Martin can't tweet anymore, because he killed off all 140 characters
|
Ha!

For anyone who thought Eddard in season one was a one-off stunt...

Red wedding.

Well, that escalated quickly.... Lol.
An anchorman reference to game of thrones makes me very happy for some reason. not as happy as led zeppelin playing at half time of a Cowboys vs Colts superbowl would, but still.... Lollie |
Well, the season finale was a let-down

In the books, he always ends with a bang. Must be the producers who have made that call.
|
Whatever happened to Bron? I don't remember his last scene in episode 8, did he go on vacation or something?
|
I seem to recall that he was starting to pull away from Tyrion a bit, now that he has some cash of his own.
|
In the book, he marries Lollies...the girl that got raped and knocked up in the riot.

Weddings are dangerous in Westeros.
So are privies :Flush: At Joffrey and Margaery's wedding, The Rains of Castamere was performed by Sigur Ros |

Can you identify the route taken by a character? You probably need to have read all books

Speaking of GOT, they're deviating from the books a bit, north of the Wall. So far, I think I approve.
|
They are, I'm not sure if its cool or not, but it is a hell of an undertaking. If push comes to shove George RR will have to separate timeline novels for when he split his universe.
|
Far too much clothing in this season. Why can't dragon lady go into another fire? When will we get to see Joffrey's widow in the all-together?

Dude, I was so confused. She's got huge boobs, she's got small boobs, she's curvy, she's got narrow hips... until I finally figured out that most of those were photoshopped. I forget people do that, just put celebrity heads on porn. I'm glad I'm not famous.

Ha! I hope you put my head on midget porn, or something suitably spectacular.
Oh I know, it's probably golden shower porn!! |
Why would it be golden shower porn?
I like the midget porn idea though, I was thinking of something more...pedestrian. :islaymyself: |

I just watched last week's episode. Bloody hell, Peter Dinklage brought it for this episode. What a performance. So good I had to watch that section again straight after.
Also, for previous recent eps: Burn Gorman at his dangerous, nasty bastard best at Craestor's Keep. |
4.08 The Mountain and the Viper
What. The. Fucking. Fuck? |
The outcome was pretty spectacular. It may also have been the inspiration for the phrase "Sockette to me". LOL

Confused.
Is A Dance With Dragons another one split into two books? I thought that was book three. The narrative of A Feast for Crows (book four by my reckoning) finishes about three chapters before it looks like it should to include the crib sheets, and includes a promise to catch you up on the missing characters in the next book. I didn't know it was also a two-parter. If I get Dreams and Dust, am I in the right place after A Feast for Crows? Then After the Feast? Making it another two books. Seriously, numbering books shouldn't be this hard. |
In Pennsylvania I bought the five books so far available and A Dance With Dragons was the 5th book, after A Feast For Crows. Maybe the 5th book has been divided and published under different titles in the UK?
|
He had to spilt the fifth book in two, and parts of it overlap the time line of the fourth book, but from different characters' perspectives.
|
So I've finally got to see Season One.
It's good. I like. So glad I read the book first though, because of my usual issue with telling people apart. I'm not sure the Stark children and Theon Greyjoy were properly introduced. And they all look the same (to me). The only thing that jars is the accents. I know Peter Dinklage has won awards and all that, and I have no doubt about his abilities as an actor, but how come he talks like a bad Peter O'Toole impersonator when his siblings don't. Ditto Bran. His accent does not match anyone around him, so it's not even as if he was brought up by a wet nurse or something. Given my problem with faces I rely very much on the written and spoken word. I'm not claiming to be an expert on accents, and in fact am a poor mimic, but when I hear something that sounds wrong to me it jars even more than continuity errors - which are actually something I enjoy from a pedantic perspective. Oh and Jaime looks a little too like my brother for comfort. So I can't see him as eye candy. Boooooooo. But Cersai is exactly as I pictured her. As is Sansa. And because I saw the trailers for the series before I read the books, and they were Sean Bean heavy, I couldn't imagine another Ned Stark. And the implied BJ was an unexpected treat  Haven't finished the series yet. But hey I know what happens, even if I can't remember exactly where it stops and the next one starts. Got series two to watch too, then going to trade them in for future series. Thanks Mum. Kept me out of trouble for two nights now. (I'm not actually IN trouble of course. I just AM trouble) |
