I Demand Justice!

We must band together and overthrow the tyranical Music Trivia reign of Ibram The Deciever!

Dude, whoa, cool it! it's just one question, and if you didn't look up info on the Jem you can still get it! I even gave you benefit of the doubt and flipped a coin; it was tails.

The guitar that ignited the 7-string revolution in rock!

As astounding now as it was when it came out, Steve Vai's Universe cuts no corners on tone or looks. Abalone disappearing pyramid fret marker inlays; a mirror pickguard; Vai's "Light without Heat pyramid logo below the bridge; plus full body, neck, and head binding provide staggeringly fabulous looks.

Ask any shred-head what Vai's guitar is, they'll say Jem. No doubt. The Universe is a guitar Vai designed and sometimes plays, but Gilbert plays 7-strings sometimes too -- Even the Universe, on occasion! But for neither Vai nor Gilbert is the 7-string their MAIN axe or even type of axe.

You didn't specify that. I answered the question you asked, correctly.

You know, earlier in that thread, I asked the question "who is God?" The answer in that context is clearly Eric Clapton. Do a search for "Clapton is God" and you get almost 300,000 hits on Google. But jinx came up with the answer of Alanis Morissette, who played God in the movie Dogma. It wasn't the answer I was looking for, but Alanis is a famous musician like the others I listed, and she was also God in that movie. I gave jinx credit for the question, even though it wasn't the answer I expected.

Just sayin'

But Alanis is a better answer to that question, because Clapton himself started the "Clapton is god" thing, whereas Alanis was anointed by others and acted in more of a godlike fashion.

And I thought it was funny, so it was all good.

You guys know who would win in a fight between Lemmy and God, right?

glatt 08-02-2006 09:16 AM

trick question

Flint 08-02-2006 09:50 AM

Right! It's a trick question because Lemmy is God. (A third correct answer.)

No, no, man. Not at all. My point was: Ibram's question sucked!

I'm just having fun with you. I actually thought my question was good, especially the list I put together.

Way back in college, some friends took a history of Rock and Roll class. They thought it would be easy and fun, but it was actually pretty hard. They had to memorize a lot. On of the things they were memorizing was that list of Rock Royalty. The one they learned was actually much longer than the one I posted. I only put up the ones I remembered on my own.

My wife has the Time Life History of Rock & Roll DVD box set. Really fascinating. I'm watching it through, then moving along to supplementary materials like Standing in the Shadows of Motown, Ray, Walk The Line, etc. (and Steve Smith's instructional DVD History of the US Beat)
