I can't believe we did it.

We'd talked about it for so long. Kicked it around... moved forward, backed off. Then after we finally pulled the trigger on a loan, it took forever to get all the zoning approvals and permits in place.

Most excellently awesome.

Based on the photos, I assume you're adding a room.

I love the red brick on your house. When was it built?

classicman 09-16-2009 01:02 PM

Out-standing
get it?

sulks away like the loser he is.

Cloud 09-16-2009 01:36 PM

where's the pool?

Clodfobble 09-16-2009 02:37 PM

More importantly, who gets the new room? Is it a new master bedroom? A larger living room? Surely it can't be for the kids, kids should never get anything new, it builds character...

plthijinx 09-16-2009 02:39 PM

very nice project indeed!

Is there going to be a secret door into that crawlspace so you can grow pot down there? You must be doing something with that crawlspace if you put down a concrete pad.

Maybe you could get some foster kids. You know, for the extra cash, and stick them in there.

Just go to your local ACORN office - they'll tell you all about how to do it too. :eyebrow: :headshake :3eye:

They fired the experts at my local office. Maybe you could go to yours and tell me what they say?

classicman 09-16-2009 03:12 PM

1949 or 1950... post-WWII housing boom inner-ring suburb cookie-cutter housing development.

First floor is a family room with powder room. Second floor is a master bedroom with bathroom. Once Mrs. Dallas and I move into it, we're going to rip out the carpeting and wallpaper (both dating from well before we bought the house in 1994) and paint and stuff. Then Miss Dallas gets it, and we repaint and re-floor her current room for Young Master Dallas, whose small bedroom will become Mrs. Dallas' office.

I have no particular plans. There will be access through a current basement window.

During moments of particular annoyance I've threatened to put both kids in the current small bedroom together and let the adults divvy up the remaining rooms. But I like this... I think I'll start threatening with the crawlspace.

I can't believe you didn't make it a fortress of solitude...
