Yes it is, but at the park it's about a mile deep and 9 miles wide, whereas the river is mostly less than 100 yards wide. That leaves a lot of landscape between rims, some of which is very impressive.

You can get a real good idea of it in 3 hours looking down from the lookouts on the south rim. You can get a better perspective hiking down part or all the way to the river.

I got a different perspective traveling by boat, from the park to Lake Mead, and hiking up various side canyons.

Zero. I mean, I've been to the Smokys, but not to the park there. Considering I only ramped up my outdoor time this year, I think I'll have plenty of time to catch up. Maybe I should make it a goal to visit all of them by 50 (a little over 11 years). That sounds like a grand adventure!
