Not sure what's best. But I'd prefer a trap that kills. Those poisons are bad because you want to retrieve the dead body before it stinks up the joint. |

I agree with footfootfoot about the Old Skool wire bail spine breakers. I've used them to kill rats in the back yard and they're very effective. Only a few times have I had the trap fail; I found it tripped and de-baited. When I reset and re-baited the trap, I got the rat the next day. I've also found skeleton-ized rats trapped. Those (rat) bastards are entirely without scruples. Fucking rats.
eta: on a recent trip to Goodwill, I found a medium sized box with the word VICTOR on the side. ??? I opened it up and found 144 new Victor mousetraps, $25. I thought of all the Looney Tunes applications, and the attic scene from War of the Roses, but I didn't have $25 to spend on such a joke at the time, so it went to someone else. But it did look like fun! |

With a gross of them, ya coulda done this: |

My fool-proof method for using the old-fashioned mouse traps.
-Take a small piece of cloth - .75"x.25" or so. -Rub a little peanut butter on it - both sides. Rub it in. -Place the cloth under the curl where the bait goes and sqeeze the little teeth down (with pliers) to hold the cloth tight. -Set the trap. I've had very good luck with this. Mice yank on the cloth trying to get the peanut butter off and spring the trap. Never found a live one. |

AqueonŽ Aquarium Water Changer
No more up and down the steps with the bucket of water. http://www.petsmart.com/gsi/webstore...a-001b2166c62d |
I recommend it too, but I can't use mine now, because my only nearby faucet is the kitchen sink. Turtle shit should not drain there and I have a filter on the faucet anyway, complicating it all.
My only concern is that they say the bubbling action takes care of the chlorine, but I can't get my head around that enough to believe it. |
Chlorine is pretty volatile and will evaporate at room temp. The bubbling helps that, sort of like how a fan will help moisture evaporate. I can't remember what the scientific jargon for it is.

Margaret Holmes Field Peas & Snaps simply cannot be made to taste any better. I don't put anything on these, no salt, no pepper, no bacon grease, no nothing. Make 'em hot, eat 'em up.:yum:
Attachment 49226 |
Can't get 'em here, can't even mail order, only the Field Peas without Snaps. :(
|
I like black eyed peas, but I don't remember ever seeing "field peas" anywhere, not fresh, not canned, not at farmers' markets, etc. They look tasty though.

While we're talking about food...
This is what I'm getting for Twil for her birthday. (pssst, don't tell her please). Here's the trailer for the book. NSFW, language. Yes, the book has a trailer. I've been paging through the book, purchased at my local bookseller, Phinney Books. I give the book and my bookseller both five fucking stars. |

Hehehehehehe.....I read about the book. Tell us the food are tasty after y'all tried the recipes.

My old work provided iPhone 4S has been having annoying battery issues.
If I do something power intensive, like run Google Earth, when the battery is at 50% or so, the phone will shut down and say the battery is dead. So I plug it back in, and it turns on again and says everything is just fine. It has 60% power and all is good in the world. No big deal unless I'm on a hike, or camping or something and can't charge it. So I just bought a myCharge AmpMax power supply. It's pretty cool. Smaller than a deck of cards. It has a female USB port, so it will charge any device with your provided cable. They give you another cable so you can charge it from your USB power source (wall wart, car charger, laptop, etc.) It's supposed to be able to fully charge your phone 2-3 times before needing to be recharged itself. One more thing to carry on those trips, but not too bad. Attachment 49278 |

ETA: And they're not outrageously expensive, either. |
Glatt, how long does it take the thing to fully charge your phone?
|
I haven't timed it, but it seems about the same as using the regular charger plugged in to the wall.
My official Apple wall charger has a 1 amp output, and this thing has a 2.4 amp output, so in theory, it should be faster than plugging in to the wall, but the phone probably has some circuitry to drop that back down to 1 amp. There are other products out there that do the same thing for a little less money, but I wanted this for a weekend camping trip and Target had a bunch of them on the shelf. I didn't want to pay for express shipping ordering something else online. (Like one of the the Anker 6000 devices, which also look nice.) |
I tried this product out over the weekend camping trip. From Friday afternoon through Sunday, the phone died 3 times, and this charger recharged it quickly each time. And according to the battery indicator on the charger it only used half of its own charge.
I was wearing pants with big pockets, and the charger-cord-phone combo easily all fit into one pocket. I could pull the phone out to use it while it was charging, and it looked to anyone watching like I had one of those new iThigh USB port medical implants that runs off you body's metabolism. |
Cool.

EASEUS
the card I had all those family pictures on got effed up, and was not readable. I was able to recover them with EASEUS. it put TIF extensions on all my CRW files, but I was able to figure out how to re-tag them all as a batch via the command prompt. whew. $74, but well worth having that program in my tool box. |
I use DiskDigger.
It's a little clunky, but it's free as fuck. Hasn't failed me yet. :fingerx: |
Surely that should be DiskDigr...
|
Should.
They prolly didn't want the guilt-by-association. |

Not the product, per se, but the company for sure! Get out your fecal rosters. |
That glitter link is dead. Apparently it's a small Aussie outfit, so when their existence went viral on Redditt, I'm guessing they were overwhelmed. Probably went screaming into the night. :haha:

I admit I bin a bit wild in ma time...
Not sure I've bin fat free though. |
Fucking Boxer Briefs. How did I not know about these sooner?
|
Heh. I'm two months ahead of you. I got a multipack for Christmas.
20 years of tighty whities, then 27 years of boxers, and now these guys. I'd seen pictures of them in store circulars and such, but figured nothing could be more comfortable than boxers. |
Holy shit, there must be something in the water. Mr. Clod started switching a few months ago as well, after 38 years of tighty whities. Maybe it's an age thing? Or the iconic shot of Walter White in his tighty whities finally sounded their death knell?
|
No, they are insanely comfortable.
I told the inch about how much I like them, he's been wearing them for a while, and he looks at me like, d'uh, where have you been you old person who knows nothing about even the simplest truths? @ Glatt, same as you, re: boxers are fine... |
Must be a US thing - I think most guys our generation in the UK wear boxers.
|
I started about 10 years ago ... (40ish) lol
|
A must for fat guys.

But always remember, you wear them solder-side OUT.
"I think I just discharged a capacitor." "Well, there is dielectric fluid running down your leg." "Oh, that, no, I was just happy to see you." |
Glad he ate her shorts?

You want to make sure there are no shorts in those shorts.

I assume there's a ground prong...

Let's have a look at your semi

Not a product, but a store...
Today I discovered 5 Below. Holy shit. It's like a Party City, a Hobby Lobby, a Barnes & Noble, and a Spencer Gifts all walked into a bar and had an orgy with a Dollar store. Stockings = STUFFED. |
There's one of those near me. Not much for me in there, though Momdigr likes the place.
|
Theres one near our movie theatre. They have the same exact boxes of candy for $1 that the movie concession sells for 5. #smuggler

I have a question though. Do you go for the shorter-legged version, or, the kind with the longer legs (more like regular boxer length)? I think I like the shorter-legged type, I never liked the bunching of plain ol' boxers. Unless they're just too hot for summer, I don't think I'll be switching back. |
Yeah uh I may need that information, how they feel when you're mowing the lawn under tropical conditions
|
Summer heat? They're absorbent. I assumed everybody was wearing these. Since, you know, they exist.

actually came here to tout Windows 10, which I like. Kinda like Ryan endorses Trump. I can't escape it, might as well roll with it. Oh god, here we go.
Launching my in place upgrade from win 7 pro to win 10 now. See you on the other side. |
