Dude gets what's comin':

Or: Link

Diaphone Jim 03-07-2020 07:09 PM

My first friend that got a car got a '41 Ford. I think I saw his engine block in that vid.
It is an amazing piece and makes me very grateful I didn't have to spend 40 years popping pistons out of hot molds.

Diaphone Jim 03-07-2020 07:13 PM

Hey Seņor, just play dead and he won't come back. Seņor ?

BigV 03-10-2020 02:11 PM

Ow, my kidney

Carruthers 03-16-2020 06:15 AM

Even in the present and unfortunate state of toilet tissue tension, I'm pleased to see that this nation is keeping the supply chain unbroken.

Carry on chaps.

That's not the supply chain, this is the supply chain...

Griff 03-16-2020 09:15 AM

Hey! That's just outside of Grifftopia! Keep buying that shit paper, I've got 50 acres of pulp wood to sell.

xoxoxoBruce 03-17-2020 12:08 AM

Warehoused there but probably made in Canada, down south or South America. Oh, 10% from India or China.

Griff 03-17-2020 06:42 AM

Nah. The Mehoopany plant makes yer Charmin etc... They have been using Canadian pulp though. It used to be 100% local sourced.

https://mehoopany.pglocations.com/

xoxoxoBruce 03-17-2020 11:07 AM

Damn Griff, that's the best news I've heard this year, thank you. We actually make something is the USA, in PA even.
Praise the lord and pass the Charmin. No, I'm not being facetious, after years of hearing this and that have left the country it's a breath of fresh air. I watched Chainsaw Al Dunlap destroy Scott Paper and thousands of local's livelihoods.

Griff 03-17-2020 11:25 AM

They've been a strong local employer for a long time. They run a swing shift on the production lines which some guys love and others leave. A high school buddy has been an electrician down there for years. Good pay, regular work.

xoxoxoBruce 03-30-2020 07:48 PM

This Woodpecker flies back a forth between the feeder and a post several times. The video is slowed down so you can see it. I'm amazed how much of each flight is done with its wings folded.

BigV 03-30-2020 09:02 PM

I believe that's known as bounding flight.

xoxoxoBruce 03-30-2020 11:04 PM

I didn't think they ever flew without using the wings for something unless dodging obstructions. Obviously that's not true.

Diaphone Jim 03-31-2020 11:22 AM

Almost all birds' bodies are themselves aerodynamic, saving lots of energy.
That is a great video.
I am surprised at how repetitive his flight back and forth is, as well as what picky little booger he is.

Carruthers 04-17-2020 04:14 AM

Currently under lockdown?

Under the circumstances there are worse ways of spending eleven minutes or so.

xoxoxoBruce 04-17-2020 12:14 PM

Should get up to the times, rip out that 19th century clock and move up to the 20th century by replacing it with giant nixie tubes. :haha:

Nah. They've gone straight for the LED look.

Nixie tubes are so yesterday. ;)

No no, LEDs are too flat, nixies have depth, they have class, they could be contenders.

Attachment 70333

They could add the day people seem to be having so much trouble with.

xoxoxoBruce 04-20-2020 02:41 PM

Over 400 parked planes at Victorville,CA. Plus the poppy bloom from the air.

Diaphone Jim 04-21-2020 03:45 PM

Fun video. Lots of jets, lots of flowers.
Makes me miss flying. (Not in the big ones.)

xoxoxoBruce 04-21-2020 11:07 PM

Elspode said the KC airport is loaded up too. There's 16,000 grounded.

xoxoxoBruce 04-21-2020 11:19 PM

Pass the Pepper... the hard way...

fargon 04-22-2020 04:09 PM

Pretty cool.

xoxoxoBruce 04-23-2020 12:09 AM

Same people more elaborate...

xoxoxoBruce 04-24-2020 11:40 PM

Will Rogers was a smart man. He knew what was wrong, who caused it, and what to do about it.
He could also call someone an asshole and they'd think it was a compliment.
This clip is relevant today...

DanaC 04-26-2020 07:14 AM

Interesting little piece:

BigV 04-27-2020 01:28 PM

quite good, should be required viewing.

Griff 04-28-2020 06:38 AM

Solid.

xoxoxoBruce 05-01-2020 11:46 PM

So many ways to play with Newton's balls...

DanaC 05-02-2020 07:10 AM

I'm really liking these Second Thought vids.

xoxoxoBruce 05-02-2020 09:46 AM

Since I don't belong to any of those groups I get to lump them all together.
No stereotypes just a bunch of smartalecy whippersnappers who better stay off my lawn.

Diaphone Jim 05-02-2020 11:31 AM

I made a Newton's Cradle years ago out of bowling balls.
It took a while to figure out why it didn't work.

xoxoxoBruce 05-02-2020 11:35 AM

Dolphins...

I also made one but of the normal materials and scale. I made it in woodshop in a previous century. It's lost now though. Mine worked well, why didn't yours work DJ?

Diaphone Jim 05-02-2020 04:24 PM

It is the equal masses of the balls in the cradle that allow for the uniform transfer of momentum and the neato patterns.
Bowling balls are all the same size but of different weights (mass) and. as a result, go helter-skelter.
I eventually put together a well-matched set and it did work, all the way up to eight balls.

Interesting that they are just over or under the density of water, hence some float and some sink.
Makes a good bar or swimming pool bet.

Griff 05-04-2020 11:05 AM

So, some are witches?

Gravdigr 05-04-2020 12:35 PM

So...

...ducks are made of wood?

Griff 05-06-2020 10:31 AM

Little known fact, Saturn is also a duck.

xoxoxoBruce 05-06-2020 03:14 PM

Is this the "what are you drinking thread"?

BigV 05-06-2020 04:09 PM

no, it's the cryptopython thread

xoxoxoBruce 05-13-2020 12:30 PM

No shame in fear but it's to your advantage to fear the right things...

xoxoxoBruce 05-13-2020 12:31 PM

xoxoxoBruce 05-14-2020 12:06 AM

Where, Bits and Pieces? I post there every Friday.

Yep. I use B&P to make the clock spin. I'm on page 559 atm. Only like 2500 or something like that to go.

Then I can start back on page one!:cheerldr:

Griff 05-23-2020 08:34 AM

This is real but I wonder if the counter programming was necessary? I've watched it happen with my Dad to a lesser extent.

sexobon 05-23-2020 08:54 AM

Somebody had better counterprogram Biden. He's telling black people that if they vote for Trump, they're not black! I wonder how that went over with Obama.

Griff 05-23-2020 10:17 AM

I'm sure it upset the fifteen black Trump supporters, but Biden apologized to them already showing a character difference. I'd guess Obama feels the same.

That can't be true. Biden says there are no black Trump supporters.

BigV 05-23-2020 11:48 AM

I have edited the channels available via the remote to great therapeutic effect. I never knew parental lock worked forward and backward in time.

Carruthers 06-07-2020 05:13 AM

Somewhere here there's a video showing the landslide into the sea at Alta, Norway.

I can't find it at present, for the sake of context, but no-one was hurt and they rescued a dog by helicopter.

However, I'm surprised that they just let him go.

Diaphone Jim 06-07-2020 10:48 AM

Trusting dog to approach a stranger in a noisy chopper and be harnessed up.
Thought he was rescued, but only sort of.

xoxoxoBruce 06-07-2020 11:33 PM

You can see the slide here...

Griff 06-09-2020 05:48 AM

Seems like a 2020 kind of thing...

Gravdigr 06-09-2020 01:46 PM

The social distancing of land.
