March 23, 2008: Ice fishermen's cars need fishing

Via Neatorama via Digg via English Russia comes this set. Apparently the gents who parked here were going ice fishing.

Now this doesn't look like the kind of water that would be fished... cruddy and brown and it looks like it's been that way for a while. The area isn't as large as it might be if they were fishing a river or lake. So let's hope it was just a finger of water off to the side of where the real water is, maybe it's part of a canal system or something.

Damm. Can you imagine the collective rage of those wives? Maybe they parked them all there on the edge in case that happened it would be easier for the tow truck to pull them all out. :D

I just finished a book called 'American Gods' by Neil Gaimon. in it, there is a town that pushes a clunker out onto the frozen lake, and takes a pool on what date and time it will fall through the lake. The protagonist chose March 23rd between 9:00 and 9:30 AM.

this is one of those little coincidences that convince me that this is my world, and you're all just living in it.

american gods is a great book.
if you like pratchett too you should definitely read Good Omens, which was a collaboration between pratchett and gaiman.

bet the ad agency for CarFax (?) wishes they had video of the scene.
