The Australian artist James Corbett, 46-year-old creates these sculptures using salvaged old car parts.

Mr. Corbett states that hunting down the parts is the most time consuming aspect of each sculpture.

I think this stuff is wonderful because it's all energetic. Any one of these pieces looks like it will start moving any second. He's somehow gotten the toned musculature of live animals perfectly correct.

There are many other examples at:

While xoxoxoBruce is away the squirrels will play.

Those are brilliant, unfortunately I was looking for a valve cover for an '86 Mazda and this guy took the last one.

He should display that spark-plug sheep on the side of a dam.

Trilby 09-27-2010 11:07 AM

I do like.

And you know how picky I am.

Coign 09-27-2010 11:56 AM

Steampunk animals are not nearly as tasty as real ones.

classicman 09-27-2010 12:40 PM

I've been thinking for a while on this - Still cannot come up with any recipe for them.

Griff 09-27-2010 05:11 PM

Gonna need a serious marinade.

No no no, IOtD is open to any member. Just follow the format (mon/day/yr/title), and don't reuse a date that's already been posted.

Michel (Monsieur Mangetout) died of natural causes on June 25, 2007. He is buried at Grenoble Cemetery. But was ressurected when large horseshoe magnet was dangled over his grave in 2008.
