July 7, 2012 - Ice Surfing
It seems odd to post an ice pic when we're in the middle of summer here in North America, but it is winter down yonder, so still seasonal . . .

Then they would be in the right place since his head is up his butt.;)

It was difficult enough for me to try to stay on a surfboard in Hawaii. I can't imagine doing it in freezing temperatures.
|
I'm not sure I fully get it.
It's a static shot and I can't imagine Ice Surfing. |
They surf on water, it's just cold. Any water that becomes detached from the lake by wind and waves, freezes to whatever it hits.

I'm not knocking Cali, who is doing a marvellous job keeping the IoTD going.
But to me this photo is a man standing still in a sort of open air corridor. From what you say, they are still actually surfing. I did not get that from the pic - I visualised it as more as a skate park, where waves are frozen into shapes which could then be traversed. Only I was wondering how this could be done on a surfboard. I don't think the photo tells a complete story, but I am interested enough to google ice surfing now. |
dear mods please transpose posts six and seven thanks ever so
