Sunrise in Nebraska
 

It's been a while since I touched my digital camera, but this morning, the sunrise was so awesome I had to get a picture. I had to do some photoshopping to get the contrast right, so I apologize for the ugliness between the top part and the bottom part. The bottom needed a huge change in brightness, but not the top part, and getting the border to look right is way beyond my skill. But it's still pretty neat in spite of that.

I think you did a hell of a job, personally.

I must wonder how much of that topmost picture is a result of a large CME - Coronal Mass Ejection (the third one this past week) that is currently hitting the earth. For example this picture was taken about the same time - a 7:30 AM in Alaska:

And Anchorage a few hours earlier. :)

Also Fairbanks (with Orion) and Cleary Summit.

damn. i need to do some flying in alaska. only if it weren't so cold! :eek:
one day, some way, some how, i WILL see the northern lights personally.

Well then, how about sunrise over Pittsburgh from 41k feet? :biggrin:
