They Shall Not Grow Old

The Imperial War Museum commissioned Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) to make a film commemorating the end of WW1.
He used archive film which was processed to allow it to be shown at the correct speed and in colour. The results are breathtaking and very moving.
He tells the full story in an interview in the second video.

I read they used lip readers to find out what the soldiers were actually saying.

This is how it's done...

That's amazing considering the empire's soldiers came from the far corners of the earth with different accents and idioms.

How you load the trailer makes a big difference...

Gravdigr 10-23-2018 02:29 PM

That's the very video I was remembering when I watching that Bobcat try to pass it's pick up truck.

Gravdigr 10-28-2018 10:14 PM

Pay special attention at ~42 seconds, and 49 seconds...:3_eyes:

That's a lot of moving Earth, Precious.

This is a little long at 11 minutes. BUT, it's Carl Reiner in he fourth story from the 8th episode of the second season of Night Gallery. A Tribute to the mythos of H.P. Lovecraft.

Takes a couple of minutes to get going, but is really interesting and fun once it does.

I really like The Cynical Historian (hmmm might go post his channel in Youtube channel recommendations) - don't always agree with his interpretation of things, but i like what he does.

An introduction but hardly scratched the surface.
