lumberjim 11-03-2007 02:11 PM

i little groovier.....but much much cleaner than chris's version.

Sundae 11-05-2007 06:29 PM

Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls - live version of Romeo & Juliet
I didn't even realise until I heard this that it's a sad song, not a love song. Mark Knopfler can write, but he doesn't sing it with the same passion.

Oh Steve I adore Little Shop of Horrors - I watched it to death when I was fifteen and was in the chorus in an am-dram about four years later.

I give you this - I like the music but it's more the images. Is I cheating?

no.

First was Cerys and Tom Jones

Second was Marc Almond and Gene Pitney

Clodfobble 11-18-2007 08:56 PM

I've heard of one of those four people.

Tom Jones has actually done duets with a whole crapton of people. I have an mp3 of him and the Bare Naked Ladies; it's an awesome song.

Sundae 11-22-2007 07:17 PM

For LJ- ages ago (we were both drunk in chat - well, I was) you said you'd sing a Neil Finn song for me. After calling him a faggot I think.

Well this is a very simple (if you ignore the intro) version of Faster Than Light. IMO it's one of his most beautiful songs, and yet one of the aspects I adore is the harmony - which is missing in this live performance. All I can say is if you aren't swayed by the Finn in this clip... I don't care! I'll get HM to teach me the harmony and we'll do another duet :p

PS - I have seen the world turning.

Yeah, just noticed this. I like musicals. I like opera too. I might not like death metal (although I have pretty eclectic taste) but I rarely raise a sarcastic eyebrow to someone else's musical taste. Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy musical but it features vocal talent (inc Levi Stubbs). The fact it's not Carmen or even Porgy & Bess doesn't stop me singing it in the bath.

Once again Drax, reign in your attitude or make a serious comment :eyebrow:

That's some singin' :p

Raconteurs - Bang bang

Audioslave - 7 Nation army

Distillers - Hall of mirrors

Drax 11-28-2007 12:30 AM

The first 2 are cover versions:
  • Bang Bang was originally written in 1966 by Sonny Bono and released on Cher's 2nd album, and Nancy Sinatra's version is used on the Kill Bill soundtrack.
  • Seven Nation Army was originally by The White Stripes.

All 3 of 'em are pretty cool tho.

Yeah, he toured with Meredith Brooks at the time, playing keyboards I'm pretty sure. May have also had a production role in the album. Anyway, he dropped off dramatically and then disappeared for good a few months later when his daughter was born. Shame on him for caring more about his baby than us! ;)
